It's Over!

Tagged:  •

Now that the contest is over for the scholarship I am back. I couldn't handle what was happening with people posting 10 blogs a day, none of which were thoughtful. I was tired of reading the same thing over and over again, so now hopfully there will be intelligent blogs, like at the beginning of the contest.

My semester is about to come to an end. I have 5 more classes left, one of each. I have 7 days left until I travel home for Christmas break. Those 7 days are going to be so stressful for me! This is my sophmore year of school but these finals will be worse than freshman year. My classes are now 10 times more rea than any general education class you can ever take. My classes I now feel have a direct impact on my person. If I don't do well in this class, how will I do right by my patients later in life. It is pretty much a terrible feeling.

Stay at Home Mom!

Tagged:  •    •

I realize this might not be progressive. But my true goal in life is to be a stay at home mom. I want to hang out with my kiddo's all day. I want to raise a baseball team actually. My whole life has been very traditional. My relationship with my boyfriend is very traditionalist, and I love it.

We are talking about couples and the trends of people getting married and people actually get married and keep right on living their separate lives. I just do not understand that, but if it's for you then it's not my place to say not to.

Thefts on Campus

Tagged:

This morning I woke up did my morning routine, and opened my web brower. The headline on my college's today website says "Campus Thieves Strike Again"

On my campus there has been a whole bunch of thefts that take place in the dorms, at night, when people are in their rooms sleeping. For some reason, people on my campus sleep with their door's unlocked. Anyway the thieves, there were apparently 2 of them, got away with "cell phones, an ipod, and several hundred dollars in cash" (www.bloomu.edu/current)

Student Athletes

Tagged:  •    •

Today in my interpersonal communications class we watched a movie....BORING! But since we were able to do extra credit on the video I paid attention. It was a 20/20 episode on the priveledged of the United States. Some of the groups they talked about were the people born into rich families, white people, celebrities and athletes, students and professional.

I don't know about any of you but in my hometown Friday night meant a football game. The football players were put up on a pedastool. And, apparently this practice is not uncommon. They shared a story of 3 football players who caused an accident by putting a fake deer in the middle of the road and waited for something to happen. Someone swerved to avoid it, rolled their car and both occupants of the car had severe injuries. The players ran away.

Drunk or Alcoholic

Tagged:  •    •

"I'm not an alcoholic, they go to meetings. I'm a drunk."

That phrase has been used way to many times in my room lately. My school is kind of a party school, even though most people don't know it. It's supposed to be a dry campus but there is even a lot of drinking going on in the rooms. Even in my room we have fun and drink while we are playing nintendo, cards, or with our nerf guns.

Middle School Called...

Middle School Called....They Want Their Drama Back.

I am a sophmore in college and sometimes I feel like I am back in middle school. Not a week goes by when someone is fighting with so and so and he is dating who? I live on an all girls floor so that might be a little contribution to the maddness. But I still think it is a little ridiculous that people can't act like adults, we are all old enough to stop worrying about what others think of us.

Swear Jar

Tagged:  •

Today my roommate and I created a swear jar. It sits on top of our fridge and if anyone curses while in our room they have to put a coin in it. Any coin besides pennies and fuck requires you to put in a quarter.

You probably are thinking "What the heck, these kids are in college, who makes a freaking swear jar?!" I'll tell you where this came from. Recently my roommate bought this game that has all these old school Nintendo games on it, including Super Mario. We play it a lot. And while we are playing we curse when we die, when those stupid mushrooms make us small, when we miss a mushroom, when we miss a coin, and the list continues.

Democra-Lazy?

I have already blogged a few times about the election, but this topic keeps coming up in my brain, and now, when I am trying to study for my sociology test later today is the time I picked to blog about it. But, my reasoning is that it is related to something I learned in sociology, so I am applying my knowledge. Anyway, that's besides the point.

In my class we discussed democracy as part of organizations, including political parties. We talked about Robert Michels and how he was a member of the democratic party in Germany, I forget the time period for this (I hope it isn't on the test). Anyway, the party was criticized for not leading in a democratic manner, no one in the party really wanted to stand up and be a leader to the party.
