So, it's been almost one week since I quit smoking. Well, let me rephrase and say since I started TRYING to quit. It really is a lot harder than I thought it would be. Last weekend, the begining of my quitting experience I sat at my boyfriends house and cried my eyes out for almost an hour because he said something I didn't agree with. I don't even remember what it was he said, and I felt like such an idiot for completely breaking down like that. I gave in that night and smoked one of his roommates cigarettes. Read More »

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (Reuters) -- The father of a young football player pulled a gun on his son's coach because he didn't think the boy was getting enough playing time, Philadelphia police said on Monday.
Wayne Derkotch, 40, was charged with aggravated assault after getting in a fight with the coach over the amount of time the boy was getting on the field at a game for 6- and 7-year-olds on Sunday morning, said police spokesman Officer Raul Malveiro. Read More »
No Longer A Smoker
So I’ve decided to try once again to quit smoking. Some of you other there might think that this is easy, and that it shouldn’t be a problem. Well, I’m here to say that isn’t true. This is the third time I’ve tried to quit now in a little over two years. Each time, I last for a few months and then I’m right back outside smoking again. To be honest, I’m not even sure why.
I know that smoking is bad for me. I know that smoking kills. I know that smoking causes cancer. I could go on and on but I’ll stop there, I think you get the idea. Despite knowing all of these things, I continue to smoke. Why, you ask? I don’t know. There is a huge part of me that wants to quit for so many reasons. I can’t afford it, it’s bad for my health, and I hate having to go outside in the winter to smoke.
As of this Monday I’m a non-smoker. I haven’t picked up a single cigarette, although the desire to smoke is nearly killing me. I’ve been short tempered, grumpy, very easily irritated, and I’ve had next to no patience with anything or anyone. I actually found myself yelling at my cat for meowing too loudly yesterday morning while I was feeding her. I know it is going to be tough, and it’s a big adjustment to make, but I really wish it were easier! I hate being mean to people or animals but it seems like I’m just an inch away from falling off the edge of sanity at any given moment right now. Can someone please tell me that this gets easier? Don't Use Condoms!!
The first lady of
Kenya has issued a statement telling young people not to use condoms, but to practice abstinence instead. In this region, highly affected by HIV, how could she possibly say something like this? She believes that sex is not for the youth of her country and that they should have no access to condoms at all in order to promote her stance on abstinence.
Health Insurance
I don’t know if anyone else really cares about this or not, but one of my biggest concerns as a part time college student living out on my own is health insurance. Simply put, I can’t afford it. Since I live on my own, I can’t be on my mom’s plan and I’m only part time in college so I don’t qualify for any type of student plans. My job doesn’t offer benefits because it’s a small office, only three employees including my boss and group plans for us are more expensive than an individual plan. Read More »
Man Missing From a Cruise Ship
Here’s the catch though, this man went missing over eight hours before Royal Carribean reported a man overboard to the coast guard! They said that there was an on board search, as well as other measures taken to be sure that he had in fact fallen overboard. Now I know that there are a lot of people on that boat, but do you really think it took eight hours to realize that he was gone! I don’t understand why in these situations the don’t take the risk that he is on board and go ahead and call the coast guard. At least that way the man stands a chance if he is out in the ocean. Unfortunatly, they probably will never find this guy. The weather was bad and the seas were rough, what are the chances of survival without even a life vest? Read More »
