So, there's tons of stuff on the homosexual marriage debate. I'll give you the heads up; I'm pretty liberal, and all for gay rights, gay marriage, gay adoption. However, tons of religious people use religion and the Bible to condem the idea of marriage.
So, my sister keeps tabs on racially motivated news stories...She came across this news story, and e-mailed it to me...I am going to put the story in my own words, then add some snips of coverage...
I actually thought it had to be a joke when I read this:
AUSTIN, Texas — A proposal by state Sen. Dan Patrick would pay pregnant women $500 for choosing adoption over abortion.
The anti-abortion Houston Republican said Senate Bill 1567 would provide an incentive to forgo abortion, but critics questioned whether such payments would be viewed as baby selling or coercion.
So just a quick little blog that I found funny....
So I am very pro-gay everything. I'm not gay, but I'm very pro-gay, because I think a.) the Bible has no place in government, b.) gay people are normal, friendly, kind, hard working people, c.) legal issues should not revolve around what we do in the bedroom.
So...now, 20 states have laws protecting pharmacists who choose to deny customers their birth control (pills, condoms, morning after, etc).
Um. So, what the fuck?
People use the whole "right to religion" argument going, saying that if birth control goes against a person's religion, they shouldn't be "forced" to do something that goes against their religion. Well here's the deal, no one is "forcing" them. They CHOOSE to work at the pharmacy, the KNOW what the pharmacy does.
...why so many people are psychotically against same sex marriages. Because I am still, to this day, having an insanely difficult time grasping the concept.
I'm not gay, let me point this out. So no, I don't have an "agenda". I really don't have any type of "agenda". I have opinions, all of which I like to back up with logical reason, a character trait I am proud of since so many people seem to lack it. I do however, know a lot of gay people, gay men in particular. And, I have seen a lot of absolutely retarded rhetoric when it comes to the whole debate. So, to start off, here are the top 5 reasons people believe gay marriage should be banned.
So perhaps you haven't heard of hard core conservative Rick Santorum, the Republican representative from Pennsylvania. Well if you haven't, let me just give you a run down of what Santorum feels are the really important issues of today;
He has compared religion and sexuality to virtue; aka, if you're a Christian heterosexual, you're golden. Anything else and you're on a downward spiral to hell, with no hope of raising good kids.
Alright, so I was reading a blog about Schindler's list, and one of the threads was about present day anti-semitism, and why it still exists. A lot of people shared their stories about people disrespecting them for their religion, and a lot of people made some really horrible comments on the blog. Comments about how all Jews are bad because the killed Jesus, because they take Jesus out of schools and other places, because they are money hungry and greedy....I was actually kind of shocked.
