According to the court of law, one can serve hard time in state prisons at age 18. According to our government, 18 is the age in which one is to be held responsible to their actions.

So, a bunch of good friends are doing something that I am beginning to see as morally questionable. Worst of all, they have an argument for it. Granted, it isn't all that convincing, but it is an argument.

This week begins the era of change for the aboriginal population of Australia. The Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, publicly apologized to the aborigines for the “indignity and degradation on a proud people and a proud culture”. Rudd’s apology included the taking of mixed-race aboriginal children and putting them in dormitories or work-oriented school systems in the 1970’s.
