We all can relate to the fact that when we say we'll do something, it doesn't always get done. Or worse, we end up in a more frustrating situation than when we started. Why does it seem so impossible to set realistic goals? Well, as human beings we are naturally driven to do what we want to do in life, but lack the motivation to do that which we think is either a waste of time or will take too long to do. Here are some pointers for setting and achieving the goals that are important to you... Read More »

$8 Difference in Minimum Wages?!
Did you know that while someone is working in the Midwest for a minimum wage of 5.15 an hour, someone living in Los Angeles, California could be getting paid 10.33 an hour at minimum wage?!
The federal minimum wage is 5.15 per hour, but is that really enough? For states in the Midwest, 5.15 isn't as bad as it could be... unless you live in Kansas where the minimum wage is 2.65!! Wait a minute, I thought the federal minimum wage was almost 3 dollars higher than that. Well, yes, that's what it should be... Read More »

I Need Some Help!
There is this scholarship I found that requires me to poll students from other cities or states what they do for fun or where they go to hang out with their friends. I thought posting this question in a blog would be a great way to rack up some more opinions.
Just reply with a comment and include your city, state, (country if there is anyone out there from farther away), and what you do for fun when you're not working or in school. Thanks!
Brain Teaser
This is for all you math whizzes and brain-teaser lovers out there. See if you can figure this one out!
Grandpa:
"My grandson is about as many days as my son is weeks, and my grandson is as many months as I am in years. My grandson, my son and I together are 120 years. Can you tell me my age in years?"
I'll give you 24 hours to guess the answer unless someone can figure it out first. If you get stuck, comment on how far you got or where you're at now, maybe someone else can pick up where you left off. Good Luck!
Girls, Don't Take Your Safety For Granted
This evening my dad brought me and my younger sister into the kitchen for a talk. My dad doesn't normally do this, so at first we thought we were in trouble. His sole purpose of the conversation, however, was not to reprimand us. It was to tell us to be careful the next time we left home for downtown Omaha. Two girls have gone missing near our city and no one knows why.
Just Recently, two girls around my age have gone missing somewhere near where I live. A UNO student disappeared within the last week or so, and so has a young girl from Council Bluffs, IA, just a few minutes across the Missouri River. This has really affected me because I plan to attend UNO this fall. Last year, a gradeschool student, Amber Harris, whose name you may have heard if you live in a state near Nebraska, went missing after school and police have yet to discover her, her body, or a single person who knows where she might be. A few days ago a body was found in a park in North Omaha that MIGHT be Amber's but could even be yet another unfortunate girl. Read More »
