Today in my Government class we had a debate about whether or not they should keep "One nation under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. I took the undecided side, because this agreement could be taken on two opposite sides of the fence. Well I understand the people who want to keep it in there because it was originally written like that, for their belief in God, and when we say the Pledge of Allegiance we pledge to the flag, and the flag symbolizes freedom, which many people have died for. The flag also symbolizes Christianity. Now for the other side of the argument. There are many beliefs in God, and the way you chose to believe in him is your decision, but I understand the people who want it out because it's basically  saying if you don't believe in God, your nothing in society because those of us who are different get rejected by others, for out beliefs, and values. We have people who kill their kids, we have people who kill others for no reason, we have people who lurk around on the internet trying to find little kids , it's just crazy. It's like what happened to peoples values, beliefs, and minds it's like people have gone insane. What kid of parent has kids and drowns/kills them? I hate how the media makes a huge deal about Britney and Kevin (not just them but every celebrity) getting a divorce, it's like there's more important stuff that's going on in the world, then whose getting a divorce, or who slept with who. The media, I think, has gone over the edge instead of covering what's important they cover the dumb stuff. It's like do people really care if celebrities are getting divorced...NO, or if a celebrity cheated on his wife with their nanny...NO. People get divorces everyday and no one really cares, but when a celebrity gets a divorce it's on every single magazine cover, it's on the news, it's everywhere you look.  Read More »

I believe that if you love someone you should be able to marry them regardless what anyone tells you. I'm totally for same sex marriage, because if  I was told that I couldn't marry the person I loved I would go crazy. Yeah, people do say that marriage is between a man and a women, but I say that if you love someone you should be able to get married. Before, I judge others or make my opinions on certain topics I put myself in their position and try to imagine what it's like and if someone told me that I couldn't marry the person I loved all because their the same sex as me, that would just hurt me knowing that our love is forbidden. It's one thing most people are scared about, and another thing that no one can stop no matter how much you try. To me death is the end of life, but also marks a new beginning. In todays society people really don't talk about death, because no one really knows what death is all about. Yeah, you die but how do we know if there's a really a Heaven or a Hell, or do you continue to live on as something else. People may never know these answers, and no one can really tell us how it's like to die, so I guess death is life's big surprise.  Read More »

On June 22nd, 2006 there was a downstate women and her husband touring the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, and she "supposedly" fell off of a 150ft cliff, her husband denied it because he told police that he was using the restroom, and when he returned she mysteriously "vanished" Anyways, it took police like 3 months to take her husband into custody, and since Pictured Rocks is in my backyard, I knew all along her husband was the one that pushed her. Because, how can you just go to an edge of a cliff, knowing that it's a big drop and just fall, and there is also guard rails surrounding the edges of the cliff. So far I haven't heard anything new but I hope her husband gets life in prison, because my whole town, almost the whole Upper Peninsula knows her husband pushed her, because the facts all add up!  Read More »

Since tomorrow is election day, me and my friend went campaigning after school. Well when we got to the republican headquarters we were told that we were making calls. Well I called about 20 people, and it was either they weren't home or if they were home they would just hang up. I thought this was rude because all I was saying is "Hello, my name is Danielle, and I'm just calling to remind you to vote tomorrow" and some people would just hang up! It made me so mad because the least they could of done is be like thank you. After, we were done, we went up to a sub-division to pass out flyer's, both republican and democrat, and some people wouldn't even answer their door, and some people if they did answer their door they would be like oh get away  from my house.  Read More »
