An Inconvenient Truth

Tagged:  •

Ex-Vice President Al Gore is calling all viewers to real action in the scariest movie to hit theatres this summer - An Inconvenient Truth. In this action-packed documentary, the ex-vice president challenges you to stand up and actually do something to stop global warming. And he is serious.

The documentary, a Sundance Film Festival hit storming into theatres this week in New York and Los Angeles, details Gore's personal crusade to fight off the evils of global warming by exposing the myths and misconceptions that surround it. Gore poignantly addresses the looming consequences of global warming brought on by our everyday actions, and our general neglect for our earth. He sees us at the tipping point, a critical moment when the global community must confront a multitude of environmental issues. We have to do something to reverse the effects of global warming that threaten to jeopardize our ability to live on this planet.

An Inconvenient Truth demands Americans face facts-while we may only make up 4% of the world population, the U.S. consumes 25% of the world's energy. Al Gore exposes the truth about global warming, and hopes audiences will realize the magnitude of impending environmental devastation, and the urgency with which we must act.

Look no further than the disastrous Hurricane Katrina of 2005 to witness the ruinous forces of global warming. If we continue destroying our environment and exploiting our natural resources at the rate we are currently going, U.S. cities like New York and Miami will be flooded by rising sea levels in a matter of decades. While this is terrifyingly real, we can do something to reverse the effects of global warming. But we must act now.

It's time to take your first step to Break The Addiction. You don't have to wait around for politicians to pass new laws and amend policies to protect your planet. You can do something today! We urge you to join the 12-step program and examine your lifestyle to save our planet (and save some cash).

So come on, be a hero. Our very lives depend upon it.

Fix Your Future NOW!!!

Tagged:  •

It's big. It's scary. But it's not unstoppable. To fight something you have to understand it first and global warming is no different.
The main cause of global warming is the carbon dioxide released when we burn fossil fuels like oil and coal for energy. Right now, fossil fuels are our primary energy source. The
U.S. is responsible for a quarter of the world's CO2 pollution because of our fossil fuel habit - even though we make up just 4% of the world's population.
One of the easiest ways to fight global warming is to cut back on energy use - even small changes make a difference. After you start conserving, try looking into renewable energy. From wind power to biofuels, it's much more than the latest environmental trend.

Life After High School Graduation and Before College

Tagged:

I just graduated from high school.  I'm sort of lost.  I'm really unsure of what to do with my time.  I'm not used to having any.  I was your classic over achiever that took every honors class and was in every club thinkable and played sports.  For the past three days I've just been sitting at home and I have no Idea what to do with my time.  I

Standardized Testing... Are they really the "standard"???

Tagged:

Standarized test really aren't so standard.  I have taken many of these tests.  State tests, ACT, SAT, and 4 Ap Tests, and it's Crazy!!!  I don't really think that these test are really that reliable.  How can these tests tell your high school or colleges you apply to how smart you really are???  The thing is THEY CAN'T!!!  I take all honors classes, maintain above a 4.5 GPA, I'm in several community volenteer projects, play two sports a year, and I've committed myself to almost every club/committe my school has to offer.  I'm the IDEAL college canidate.  They only thing is I scored low on both the SAT and ACT.  In no way does those test reflect how smart I truly am.  It's because of my low score that I got rejected from my number 1 college.  I think we should do without these test.  The sad thing is that although I'm smart and my GPA proves it, and I'm dedicated, there were kids that had a 3.2 GPA and got into that college because they did well on the tests.  What do you think??? To Standardize test or not to standardize test???

Authorities and Myspace

This whole myspace thing is getting out of control.  In good and bad ways.  I personally don't have an account anymore but what was intended to be a place for musicians to launch their career has turned into a place where people go to find relationships, frienships, and TROUBLE!!!  Everyday there is a new story related to Myspace.  "13 year old kidnapped"  "17 year old raped"  Why we ask???  They were giving out too much information.  Now is that tom's fault???

I just don't get it???

I just don't get why so many people hate our president.  People act like he's out to get everyone.  I know he's done some stuff that people don't neccesarily agree with but still he's trying.  He didn't make us go to war.  Going to war was inevitable.  It's just crap that everyone gives him such a hard time and he's doing everything he can for our country.  We as American Citizen's shouldn't be putting him down or criticizing him we should be greatful and be supporting him in his efforts.  It has to be amazingly hard.  He has to wake up every morning knowing that half of the country that he's trying to govorn on a daily basis hates him.  The funny thing is that so many people say they don't like him and they disagree with the things he does, but yet they voted for him and they are the ones that put him in to office.  All I'm trying to say is maybe try to give him a chance.  Don't listen to what the news or Jay Leno has to say about him.
