My barely fifteen year-old cousin spent the weekend of her first homecoming dance in tears. Was it because her date screwed her over? No, but her Roman Catholic parents and his Muslim ones did.

When the Arabic boy's parents found out he was taking a white girl to their school dance, they forbid him to even leave the house. My uncle spent that night yelling, very upset, that my cousin had gotten herself so attached to an Arab.  Read More »

What the hell?

I am so sick of the fact that only the most ridiculous posts with the most pointless content are the ones that get read and commented on here. Who gives a shit about Britney Spears? And how is it that all someone has to do is pretty much copy and paste a news article and call it a blog? Just because you know where to find news stories, doesn't mean you are an intelligent person. Goods blogs should present and idea, question, or oppinion, and discuss it.  Read More »

In Defense of GLOBALIZATION

Tagged:  •    •    •

After 9/11 I found many of my liberal friends complaining about something called "globalization". At the time I didn't really know what it meant. Now I can see that its just another concept they dismiss because liberal media propaganda tells them to.

Globalization, like most anything else, has its ups and downs. It's the fools on either extreme that piss me off. Most of us fall somewhere in the middle; many pro-globalization people are aware of its risks, while many anti-globalization people enjoy some of its benefits, but dislike corporate globalization.  Read More »

Trying to Take the Middle Road in Foreign Policy

I am not left wing.

I support and love my country, and I want to do whatever I can to help preserve our form of government. Our system of government, though not perfect, is a beacon of hope to the oppressed because of the degree of freedom and liberty it provides.

The fact of the matter is, there are people out there who are not poor, not abused, but envious. These envious people were not prepared by their societies to accept modernity and they are the people that attacked us on 9/11. To quote Thomas Freidman, prominent foreign affairs columnist for the New York Times, "Their grievance is rooted in psychology, not politics; their goal is to destroy America, not reform it; they can only be defeated, not negotiated with." I couldn't agree more. Anyone who denies that we have enemies as a result of jealousy is a fool. They hate us for who we are, and are willing to die for this hate. This is the principle that I have a strong desire to defeat.  Read More »

The Danger of Miscommunication in Today's Post-9/11 World

Thomas L. Friedman is a writer that I respect greatly. He is one of the top foreign affairs writers for the NY Times and has also written quite a few analytic books. I've been reading Longitudes and Attitudes: The World in the Age of Terrorism, and I really like his ideas. He has a no-nonsense approach to looking at the world post-9/11, and I like him for hs logical, neither left or right-wing outlook on things. I would highly suggest anyone read his writing.  Read More »

Current Relations Between the President and Congress

Madison once said, “In republican government, the legislative authority necessarily predominates. The remedy for this inconveniency is to divide the legislature…and the executive… should be fortified.” In the
U.S.’s current administration, Congress has been particularly divided on many issues due to its increasingly partisan nature. This division has allowed President Bush to increase his power, especially since the
U.S. is currently at war.  Read More »

SEX Happens

...now that my title has caught your attention

It really is about sex though. Only an idiot would deny its prevalence in society. So why do we still have all of these old-fashioned conservatives still trying to deny it?

Dr. Alfred Kinsey is one of my heroes. Without him, people might still be thinking that birth control is evil, and that oral sex can cause sterility.

Honestly though. I'm so sick of everyone making a huge moral deal out of sex. Everyone thinks about it, and most everyone will have it at some point. And why shouldn't they? Humans are sexual creatures. Whether you believe we were created that way by a god or that we evolved that way to be like animals, its just a fact that people like sex, and do it often. There are a million variations on the preferences of human sexuality, and I don't think anyone, especially the government, has any right to try and regulate what people choose to do consensually behind closed doors.  Read More »

So, how does YOUR life relate to global politics?

So America is really not that bad of a country. In her world, she's among the best and the brightest, and she's definitley tough. Yeah she can be selfish, even cold, but she's gotta be strong in the face of so many countries that envy her economic and military greatness. Countries who blame her for all of their problems when it's their own failure to modernize and selfishness that keeps them in the shitty state that they're in. And because of this they rarely attack her blantantly. Instead all of the Arab states kind of band together to plan small terrorist attacks that really do nothing at all to demoralize the US, nor do they take out anything of great importance; these attacks are really just irritations that the US nonetheless, refuses to put up with.  Read More »
