More than 36,000 students from throughout Los Angeles County, California skipped classes and marched through streets and on various freeways Monday, March 27, 2006, to protest an immigration bill being debated in Congress. "We may be illegal immigrants, but we are human," Metropolitan High School senior Melania Preciado said as she waved a Mexican flag. "We deserve the same rights as everyone else, not be treated like criminals."

Chivalry

So I was wondering how many girls out there still appreciate chivalry? I know I like guys opening doors for me, paying for me when we go out, buying me flowers just because, basically what is considered very traditional. As much as I love being treated like a princess I do like to be independent as well. However, I have noticed that many girls like a lot of independence, they do not want to rely on anyone taking care of them if necessary or what not.

To Eat Or Not To Eat

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •

Throughout my life I have struggled to maintain my weight at where I like it to be. We all know that this problem mainly effects females, although males can suffer just as much. The problem now that I face is the "freshman fifteen". Being a college freshman a person is introduced to an assortment of life changes. Dinner is no longer prepared by your mother at home; now your mother is in the shape of a cafeteria, where you swipe in using your student id and eat as much food as you like. The problem is the food served is mainly starchy potatoes and pasta. Over the course of a few months just diet alone catches up to you and you find yourself poking at fat on your body in places you never worried about.

Why Blog?

Tagged:

I blog because it allows me to voice my opinion. As a college student I am exposed to many different view points and beliefs and through the course of just conversation with the people around me I am developing new ideas and viewpoints on a variety of topics. Blogs allow me to explore my thoughts and ideas, while getting feedback from others who agree or disagree with me. Through their feedback I can learn even more about specific issues. I especially love to hear from those who disagree with me because I can admit that I can be wrong and close minded in my beliefs and hearing the opposite view point allows me to look at aspects I never considered about topics and sometimes I am persuaded to change my opinions all together.

Pro-Life vs. Pro-Choice

The debate between pro-life advocates and those who are pro-choice has been a never ending battle. As a woman, by Roe vs. Wade, I have been granted the right to end my pregnancy. In Roe vs. Wade it has been decided that abortion is an issue of privacy. I think not.
