My Poem ~Welcome to College~

Tagged:  •    •    •

Welcome to College

Clink plink go the bottles and cans of alcohol
Bang bang hear the RA’s running down the hall
Hurry hurry so we don’t get written up again
Oops Joe forgot to throw away the beer can

Welcome to College

Scribble scribble goes the pen in the RA’s hand
The students in the room plead and demand
Please please just give us a warning

Silly String and Soldiers

Tagged:  •    •    •    •

I found this very interesting.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061206/ap_on_re_us/silly_string_to_iraq_1

Who would of of thought silly string can help soldiers detect trip wires? I would like to know other ways we can help soldiers, like when people ask for donations for soldiers we think of basics, like toothbrust, comb, shampoo, and things of that nature, but never things like silly string, in which reading this article, can save hundreds of lives. I'm just wondering if there are other things that could also save soldiers or anyones life in that manner, like the simplest things. Like how many women know that just carrying your keys as a weapon to stab an attacker in the eye, like if someone came up behind you? Is there any soldiers out there that would like to comment other things that seem practical but that no one would think of that we can send to our troops to save lives?

What is Feminism in 2006? An essay on feminism in modern times

Tagged:  •    •

What is feminism in 2006? Feminism is what every woman in every culture around the world wants as a personal freedom and having equality. Feminism is the key to unlock the door for women to have better opportunities and a future. Many of these opportunities can range from a woman getting personal freedom from abuse, to getting a higher paying job and supporting herself. Feminism is how a woman defines herself and stands out from the rest of the world. Feminism is what keeps woman from being shutout from the world of opportunities. Feminism is rapidly changing the times and has since it first begun. Without feminism, woman not be able to vote, drive a car, play sports, and be involved in every aspect of today’s world.

Is Rosie O'Donnell over the top with this whole Kelly Ripa and Clay Aiken thing?

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •

So a couple of days ago Clay Aiken was on the Regis and Kelly Show, and he put his hand over Kelly Ripa's mouth, and she made a comment. She said, "Don't put your hand there I don't know where its been!" I found that totally rude of Clay, but to add insult to injury, Rosie O'Donnell claimed Kelly made a anti-gay comment.

First of all, this is none of Rosie O'Donnell's business, and I'm glad Kelly called the show. Second of all, how do we know Clay is gay? Third of all, Kelly is a mother, and I would think her comment was meant to be "I don't know where your hand has been" meaning he might be sick, or he didn't wash his hands or something. Not only that, it is rude especially on television to put your hand over someone's mouth. Kelly is a mother, and she has kids, and doesn't want germs to spread to her kids. That is what she meant. And by Rosie O'Donnell making a gay comment, which even though there are rumors about Clay Aiken being gay, he hasn't and if he isn't gay won't come out of the closet, and if he's not gay, Rosie just made a complete ass out of herself. Not only that, she's a celebrity. She should be a role model for gay people, not act like the stereotype lesbian. Gay people already have it hard enough as it is. Ellen DeGeneres is what I call a role model lesbian. She doesn't stick her nose in where it doesn't belong and she helps people. It would be a ideal if everyone knew that Clay was gay, and what Kelly did was anti-gay, then I can see Rosie saying something in defense. But when you don't know the facts lady, shut your damn mouth. For real.

words of advice for shopping and using self checkouts

Tagged:  •    •

ok folks as a cashier at a supermarket here are my daily annoyances and how u can make shopping easier for yourself and make a cashier less annoyed

  • If you are using selfscan, don't take big items through especially the kind that have to go on the belt. Also don't bring any cards or flowers especially at supermarkets, some machines make u put them on the belt and it makes the process slower because usually they clog the machine up and ruin flowers and cards. and you can't buy gift cards there either. and if you are paying by check you might as well go through a regular line

transgender and gay teachers in school

Tagged:  •    •

so i was in my Multi Education class yesterday and we are discussing gay issues, how do we feel about gay people and religion and gay people and so forth. a man in my class who is married with 2 children spoke up and said something that i didnt even think about but makes sense. i guess and i never ran into this but i believe that there are gay teachers out there. and in classrooms, but usually like college level. but he brought up a point its not that he minds gay teachers, but he wonders if they will influence children, say there is a gay teacher in an elementary school for example. not only gay but a transgender gay. apparently he had a transgender gay guy in the college classroom. his concern was in a few years from now will we see trangender gay teachers in elementary schools? he was concerned that a person like that may influence a child if they try to say that being gay is something to be encouraged meaning making a child think about becoming gay. i don't completely agree i mean teachers dont have the right to say what a child does as far as something like that goes, education one thing but ur not supposed to influence a child on who they should be. i don't think its such a bad idea cause maybe we can get rid of homophobia that way if a child understands and accepts gay people at an early age. these were some ideas thrown out during class. so what are other people's opinions on this? what do u think of gay teachers or especially transgender teachers like a man dressing up like a woman in a classroom, not just in colleges but high schools, middle schools even private and elementary schools? just throw out anything u like to add and how would you feel if u have or plan to have children in a classroom with a setting like that?

oops John Kerry did it again....

So Kerry makes a big boo boo again by saying that if u don't have an education that u end up in Iraq. what he meant to say is that if u don't get an education Bush will send you to Iraq. although i voted for Kerry back in 2004, and although he says stupid things sometimes, doesn't mean he's completely dumb. Bush needs to get out of office, and although i like kerry, he needs to work on his speech ethics. this isn't the first time he made this boo boo. how does everyone else feel about kerry? and what does everyone feel about what the troops sending the message..heres the link

if you don't care about your kids, then why have them?

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •

I work for an afternoon school program where kids stay after school, and we help them with their homework and then they play until their parents pick them up. I have this one kid who doesn't spell, write or read well, and his parents don't pay attention to him and he doesnt care and doesnt think he needs to learn how to read. He's in second grade. He has an older brother who is in 6th grade and still can't write. Although his teachers help them, their parents don't care, and they believe its the teachers job to do all the work, thats what they are there for.
