Is being gay really a sin or is it all just an act to hope people will change their lifestyles?

I have always wanted to know, what exactly is wrong with being homosexual or bisexual and why people are so against same sex marriages. I have heard that somewhere in the bible it says that it is a sin for a man to lay in bed with another man. The thing is, I have never been shown the verse/s that say such.
