As many may know, this November 7th Wisconsinites will be voting on the decision to add a defintion of marriage to its constitution. Most people see this amendment as either completely vital to life or completely unconstitutional itself. However, regardless of where you stand on the issue, this vote has one fatal flaw, its format.
Although at first glance this vote seems like it could be no easier, if one actually looks at the options, they will see the format of the vote has no option but to confuse. It would seem logical that a "Yes" vote means 'Yes, I want to amend the constitution,' and a "No" vote means 'No, no amendment.' However, in actuality, the system being used is completely opposite.
