A new Frankenstein

And then there were none

Fiction by definition is an imaginative creation or a pretense that does not represent actuality but has been invented.  Based upon this definition, the conclusion that Frankenstein’s monster was fiction is correct.  While the essence of the story lies in physics and human anatomy, the creation of a living being brought to life by lighting in totally absurd.  The monster and imagination to me are one in the same mainly because the goal of both was to create.  The “fake” side of imagination is that most dreams won’t come true.  The dreams will sit idly and fade into dust.  However, Dr. Victor Frankenstein acted upon his dream, and the results were disaster.  Read More »

The weighing device for today’s debate shall be that of outcomes.  Outcomes are the result of practice and therefore it is logical to have this as today’s weighing mechanism.  Which ever side provides for more outcomes should win today’s debate.  Read More »

Flashbacks and foreshadowing are very effective literally tools.  These tools help keep the reader in suspense and also keep the reader guessing as to what will happen next in the story.  In “The Things They Carried” We find both literary devices used to kelp move the story along and create more character depth.  Not only do these devices aid in the movement of a story, but they also help shape the theme of story.   Read More »

Government Legitimacy

Safety is linked to government legitimacy mainly because a government has an obligation to provide safety to its citizens.  Safety and Security are rated second on Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs.  Without this crucial second step people will be left in a constant state of searching for safety.  Privacy created a stepping stool needed to reach the second step.  Safety needs to be achieved because without it nothing else matters.  Imaging living in world where everything you do is under the eye Big Brother.  Read More »

Pride in Ownership

Tagged:  •

Hello and welcome to my little corner of the website.  Today's topic of discussion is Pride in Ownership.

Let's begin:
Think back to the last time you got something brand new and all your friends wanted put thei gruby little hands all over it.  You took pride in the fact you had kept it clean, new looking and such.  Well the oppsoiete goes for the dorm I reside in.  The dorm I live in houses approx 750 male and an underdisclosed amount of females.  The out side of building loks ok but as you enter to building you are hit with the pugnet smell of mildew and mold.  We all know this smell.  As you walk further in the hall you will find various items of trash and wrapper and who knows what else.  Now for the people who live in this dorm we call it Hell on Earth.  Yes we have running water and all the essecnials but thwen the bathroom has standing urine and black fungus growing on the walls and shower stalls then something is wrong.  When you turn on the desk light and roaches come stampeding out something is wrong.  Now we all pay to livein the dorm but only a few to care of it, where is the prtise in ownership?  What has happened to common coutesy toward your fellow man?  It has gone thwe ay of the good government.  This entire building has lost its morals and values.  Which can be contributed to one thing.  (THis next string is going to racist and all so none take oofense its not meant to be)  Rap music, video, games, sex, drugs, and alcolhol. all play a mjor role in the depgredation of the life in the dorm.  The Music to begin, at 2:30 in the morning neighbors blare black rap music at the top volume.  Next, Videos instill a snse of inferior women and how males should treat them and overall the lost respect for each other.  When roommates have to pull the fire alarm to break up a f--- sessons something is wrong.    Sory for thr rant but it has finally gotten to me if you have any comments on how to help solve the problem please comment and I mean everything I said about the building its all true.  Read More »

Video Games a link to The Mind?

Tagged:  •

Video Games, at some point almost everyone has played one. They may provide for hours of enjoyment and cause you to forget about your problems, but is there a dark side?  The answer is clear; yes there is a dark side to video games.  I am not talking about violence or anything, but a link to that person's mind.  Lately, I found an old game have started playing it again.  Only in the last two nights have I realized how fast the time flies.  The old saying "Time flies if you are having" doesn't even apply.  Games suck the player into them and create that false sense of self.  You feel like you are character and can't detach fiction from reality.  SO what is the link?  The link to the players mind is one of self importance.  In video games you can start over and re-do as many times as you want and feel good about yourself versus the real world.  The other link comes from visual excitement.  Bright light, bangs, booms, bullet and such stimulate the mind in a way no ordinary activity could.  A few years back for example, the show pokemon was forced to cut back on some of the visual effects because it was causing seizures in children with epilepsy.  So while video games may provide us with lots of fun we have to make sure we aren't being drawn into a void of nothing when we beat the game?  What's left? the harsh reality that you just spent 7 hours playing a game and have nothing to show for your time.  That is the link....IF comments are made I will expand on this theory.  Read More »
