ALMAS is an all Latina girls group started in Gresham High School in Gresham, Oregon.

Alright so yesterday we had a meeting with some Latino students at school with some administrators. We talked about certain issues like racial comments in classes being ignored by teachers, how racial profiling is being committed by the school staff and how we could fix these problems.

In Puerto Rico public school teachers have walked out of the job and joined picketing parents and students after the government would not meet with the Puerto Rico Teachers Federation’s demands. Some of these demands included having a limit on the number of student per class, and giving teachers the authority to control class schedules.

OK so i recently moved to Or from Southern California and yes i was in total culture shock when i got here. All my life lived in a community where 99% of the population was Latino, then on a summer vacation to Oregon my parents decided to move here. I didn't actually realize how there weren't that many Latinos here until i walked into school.
