Tom DeLay: At War With Liberals

So, I was watching a Republican dinner roast, and Tom DeLay was one of the speakers there.  His whole time, he talked of how the Liberals and the liberal media bias was preventing him and his Republican partners from putting ther programs into place. He said that if the Republicans banned together, then they would be able to "defeat" the Liberals and be able to stop them from eroding away the good that they've worked so hard to implement.  He said that even though he may not be the leader of the house anymore, he will continue to fight the liberals and ensure that liberal policitcs don't impede on the conservative progress of America.  And then, this article, which has a few choice lines that just add to Mr. Delay's argumentations.

Former Republican Senator continues Criticism of Religious Right

One of my main concerns in this country's long term health is the pervasiveness of Conservative religious views in modern politics.  Especially as a proud Christian, this worries me, as in politics, I stand up for the rights of the individual, even if they don't particualrly line up with what is moral according to a Catechism or Creed.  I adhere that each person is capable to make their own decisions in life, and that, providing they do not impede the rights of another, ta person's own decisions are intrinsically correct.  This is the ultimate goal of faith, to keep peace amongst all around you.  I'm scarted that the GOP is rapidly pulling Christianitry away from that ideal.

Suspensions in the Olympic Games

Tagged:

All I've really heard about the Olympics lately is the scandal surrounding Bode Miller and his drunken skiig.  And now this shows up in the New York Times:

Five (updated after the story was published) cross-country skiiers and a skeleton barred the day before the games begin.  Even more than the media focusing on the wrong things is the unsettling truth that these athletes will do anything to win gold.  The Olympics used to be an event where countries bonded and competed in fraternity.  Now, not saying these tests were from blood doping, but the possibility is therre.  The Olympics need to go back to what they were.  In this respect, we can learn from the Koreas.  They entered the stadium together, and soon may compete together.  Bring the Games back into the spirit of fraternity.

A Sampling of Pat Robertson's Immoral Quest for Power

I think it is sickening to see the amount of people that indoctrinize themselves in Pat Robertson as a man of God, only interested in the survival of the country, and interested only in the helping of others.  There is nothing more to this man (like other bigwig Evangelists) than to gain power for the New Right, covering over immorality with religion.  Here is a sampling from his archive:

Erosion of Minority Power in Congress

The power of the minority party in British Parliament has been historically nonexistent.  Except on Mondays, the minority party members siply have no pull in government (until recently, but we'll ignore Tony Blair's actions that have brought about the existence of rouges in Labor).  When the Prime Minister wants a bill passed, he brings it to the floor, and debate ensues.  However, the debate is virtually meaningless, and any rouge activity would have you blacklisted, and the party would never nominte you in an election again.  Politics are played by the party leaders, and elections are run by those leaders, instead of the actual members of Parliament themselves.  If one wants to continue their political carreer, they must meet in the middle of their own personal beliefs and the beliefs of the party.  Then, the bill is voted on, and will pass unless the party is in a state of no-confidence.  The only time the minority has any power is Monday afternoons: QUESTION DAY!

The Time is Now: Put an End to the Death Penalty

Consider this situation, whose idea was taken from an old CSI:

Jon lives in his apartment with 4 housemates, a family of mother, father, and baby son, and another female who lives alone.  It is a hot day in summer, and the single woman, the mother, and her son, are out at the park enjoying the climate.  Jon is lazy, overweight, and is readily known to lie around half naked and watch TV or listen to music all day, but is a very nice man who would do anything in his power for his friends.

Reflections on the Cataclysm of College Standardization

For so many years, Ohio has used the sophomore exit exams as a test for graduation.  Then, as the class of 2005 was coming up the ranks of elementary school, the state alerted schools that we would have to pass the Ohio proficiency tests in order to graduate. How horrible, that not all can pass the exit exams, that now the state was throwing these generic tests at freshmen, giving them 8 chances to pass all four parts!  Suddenly, curriculums changed, and students had to be prepared to pass so that districts didn't lose valuable funding for students who don't pass.

Update to Flying Spaghetti Monster: Valid Scientific Theories

http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/peter_atkins/behe.html

Above is a review of "Darwin's Black Box,"  a book I was told to read.  Being a college student, I'm taking the "I don't have time, so I'm using sparknotes" approach.  What I've founf out about the book from this and numerous other sources:
