Breakfast is too early on principle. Because of the way University of Toronto works, I can only eat at two cafeterias, and they only offer breakfast from 8-10. And if you actually want food, be there before 9:30. I had an economics tutorial this morning, though, so by the time I went downstairs to eat, I was feeling fairly okay with being awake.

"Not even in their wettest of wet dreams could they have imagined a better candidate!” This was Martin Walker’s take on Jim Webb, the Democratic candidate for US Senator in the state of Virginia. Webb is a Vietnam veteran whose son is serving in Iraq, and Webb has been wearing a pair of his son’s combat boots as he campaigns. This is genius in a traditionally conservative state. Play to the residents’ notion of America as a liberator, and perhaps they’ll vote Democrat.
