Are you judging me?

You can't see me, so I'll describe myself to you. I'm 5'6" with short bright red hair, a continuous hoop through my septum (not unlike a bull-ring, but small), and I'm a little overweight, but most of that is in my boobs any more. I have two tattoos, one of which can be seen almost at all times, unless I'm wearing a long-sleeve shirt. I wear 7 rings, a pink watch, two bracelets on my other wrist, and an onyx pendant. I have hot pink shoes. I like skirts and outrageous fashion that fits my body-type. I don't wear make up, and I have clear but imperfect skin. My eyes are dark and I don't smile without reason. I have a scar on my left forearm.  Read More »

Talkin' 'bout my generation

Since being on Progressive U, I have been exposed to a number of young minds capable of logic, critical thought, and creative problem solving. I would like to call these people my peers. My equals. Shall we say, the Alphas amoung us. However, at least 2/3s of the blogs I stumble across because the title is interesting, or I feel like arguing a point (usually the latter); these blogs are completely unreadable mishmashes of incoherent logic, awful spelling (even by my standards, and I can't spell!), gut-wrenching grammar, and absolutely no clue about what progressive ideas really are. These people, the two-thirds who are incomprehensible, simply posting to gain points for this lousy scholarship; I would like to dub the Epsilons. (Call me callow, unfair, mean, whatever. It's true. And if you don't know what I'm talking about you've got some reading to do.)  Read More »

Bush says he was "misinterpreted"

Tagged:  •

I just heard this quote on the radio:

"Wanted dead or alive... that kind of talk... may have been misinterpreted in some parts of the world."

That's what he said. Verbatum. Now, what did he say about Osama bin Laden right after 9-11?

"There's a poster in the old west that said 'Wanted: dead or alive'." And this was supposed to mean that Osama was, of course, Wanted: dead or alive.  Read More »

A dissertation about the importance of social programs

Tagged:  •

About a year ago on a message board where I am a moderator, there was a discussion sparked about social programs. When I mentioned that I recieve food stamps (a form of medicare, by the way), the thread became about me. My entire life from what I spend my money on (I was accused of spending my money on internet access, and other frivolous things), to how well I do in school became subject to inspection. I was called names, told to drop out of school and get my priorities in order, and accused of being lazy et al because I get aid from the State of Washington so that I can feed myself.  Read More »

The Jaded News -- Sunday, 14 May 2006

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers who read The Jaded News. And because it's Mother's Day, I'd like to do an Human Interest story on a mother. My mother.

*Suzan (sometimes called Mommy, Mom, Mala, Momala, and even Nazus) became a mother for the first time on 11-14 March 1985 while in labor with her first born daughter, Rachel. She named Rachel after the archangel Rapha'el, but sometimes wishes she had named her something like Stubborn or Bossy. In 1990, Suzan gave birth to a second child, named Michelle (after the archangel Micha'el) whom she subsequently gave up for adoption in order to make sure that Rachel had the best life possible, even with all of the other family-related issues. In 1994, Suzan became an other mother to the daughter of a church friend. Robin moved in with Suzan and her family after a dispute with her own family. The stay, which was supposed to last only a few weeks, lasted over a year, and Robin and Suzan (and the others) have been close ever since. Over the years, as her daughter and other daughter have grown, Suzan has become other-mother to all sorts of people in need of a little maternal care, as well as other-mother-in-law to Robin's wife Jenna, and other-grandmother to their children. Suzan is a yoga and pilates instructor, and has made many sacrifices for her family over the years. She is glad that her children no longer live with her.  Read More »

The Spies who Shag Us by Greg Palast

In this article, Palast details the things that other major news papers have missed on the phone records scandal. "ChoicePoint Inc", one of these no-bid contract companies have not only been looking through your phone records, but they have also been able to link your phone records to your voting registration.  Read More »
