*More people are dead in Iraq today, thanks to an “insurgent blast” in Baghdad that killed 27 people, and wounding at least as many more. This particular “insurgent blast” is care of al-Qaida in
Iraq
in retaliation for the death of former al-Q-in-Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. A letter from al-Qaida Global Inc. to its subsidiary in Iraq said “stop killing Iraqis, it’s bad PR,” and lamented allowing al-Q to form an Iraqi franchise when the
United States invaded in March of 2003. Osama bin Laden could not be reached for comment himself (he was getting dialysis), but a representative expressed concern over the killing of Muslims by other Muslims, saying that al-Qaida “needs to focus on destroying the Great Satan” first.  Read More »

It's a Mann baby! Part 2: Ann reviews herself

Tagged:

Disgraced after my last attempt to respond to the venom of right-wing loony, Ann Coulter, I feel the need to redeem my cynical nature and post a follow-up; a response to Ann's callow attempt to review her own book because no one else wants to even read it. (This of course required me to actually read her collumn this week. I'm taking one for the team, be thankful. And someone get me some Holy Water, I need a bath after reading that drivvel. I will not, however, read her book and do a review of it. I suspect that even thumbing through it causes legions on the body, punnishment to those foolish enough to think Coulter actually has something useful to add to the discussion.)  Read More »

World News

*On Thursday this week, reports came out that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed when the
United States dropped two 500lb bombs on the small house where he was reported to have been. These reports were accompanied by a creepy photograph of Zarqawi, which was matted and framed, in a fashion reminiscent of 19th century “death books”. The image, of course, was not of a man who was hit by a thousand pounds of American bombs, he rather looked like he had passed out after a bar fight. So, Friday’s follow up reports stated that “Zarqawi was still alive after the bombs hit” and that he “tried to get up, and mumbled something unintelligible, before dying”. Yeah, right. Sure he did. Some have begun to speculate that American special forces killed Zarqawi some time ago, and that the Bush administration was keeping his dead body in a freezer until the opportune moment. Officials have not commented on this, or any other, conspiracy theories related to the death of Zarqawi.  Read More »

Dear Mr. President,

Dear President Bush,

I'm not sure that I have anything to really say to you, but I feel like I should say something. My generation has to pay back your debts. You're screwing us over by driving up debt, trade deficits, and "funding" a war that's not only unnecessary but wholly unjust. In the mean time, my generation is taking on more debt, feeling more alone, and trying like hell to get educated and get out of the social standing into which they were born. The more you spend, the harder your administration makes it for us to be able to get educated, the more you perpetuate our poverty. I grew up in poverty, Mr. Bush, and I don't ever want to go back to that. More so, I don't want small children in the supposed "richest country in the world" to go hungry because their parents have to choose between shelter and food. The more you push for the abolition of social programs, the more you cut taxes, the more children go hungry. And, hunger aside, what about the health of these children? Don't you want your future soldiers to be healthy so that they can fight the perpetual war that keeps you and your friends in power?  Read More »

It's a Mann, baby!

I can't stand Ann Coulter. She's got scary-coke eyes, she's skinnier than an anorexic on a diet, she has no fashion sense, and because she's a celebrity (why is beyond me) I can say all the nasty virulent things I want about her and it's not considered slander. I like that. Here I go...

A few years back, Coulter said on Real Time with Bill Maher, that conservatives have better sex than liberals because conservatives believe in god. Considering that Coulter is unmarried, why is she having sex? Her "god" certainly doesn't approve of pre-marital sex, so how the hell does she know what it's like? Unless she's a hypocrit... or, and this is also possible, she's got a great imagination and thinks about Bill O'Reilly and his loofa every night before going to sleep.  Read More »

What should have been done with Zarkawi?

Tagged:  •    •

You probably have already read, heard, or seen reports that the leader of Al Qaida in Iraq was "killed this morning when two 500lb bombs" were dropped on where he was -- and if you've seen the pictures then you know that he takes bombings very well. A thousands pounds of bomb should pretty well char everything in its path... maybe they're just not as powerful as we thought. Maybe the guy who designed these ones forgot to convert from metric...  Read More »

* On Saturday, Canadian officials did something the
United States has never actually done during its “War on Terror”. In Ontario, 17 Canadian citizens alleged to have planned terrorist attacks on Southern Ontario (capital
Ottawa located nearby), were arrested by the RCMP. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said they had arrested 12 adult men, and 5 youths, thereby foiling their evil plan. The leader of the gang, Snidely Whiplash, is alleged to have screamed “Curse you DoRight!” as he was being led away after the arrest. Dudley DoRight had no comment.  Read More »

Tattoo etiquette

Tagged:  •

I've been coming across a lot of blogs about tattoos today, and so I thought I would share some advice that was given to me about tattoos and tattooing.

Pre-tattoo
1. If you can, design your own artwork. If you can't, have a trusted friend or your tattooist design it to your specifications. One of the things tattooists hate most is when people come in and just pick a design off the way that has no importance to them. (Also, never ask your tattooist "What do most people get?" they hate that.)
2. Think about the design for at least a year before you get it. It's permanent, and you need to live with the image on your mental-image of yourself for long enough that you know you won't hate it a week later.
3. Your image should have some personal meaning. You don't have to tell people about it, you don't even need to be able to fully articulate why it's so special, but at least have the conviction to know what your body art is about.
4. Make sure your tattooist can draw before you even make the appointment to get inked.
5. Always go to a reputable place, one that proudly displays certifications and lisences. You're more likely to get some sort of blood-born pathogen if you go to the guy down the street who's just gonna charge you $50 for your tattoo. Trust your gut on this one.  Read More »
