Minnesota Bridge Collapse

The collapse of the interstate 35W bridge in Minneapolis has raised many pertinent questions-- did workers responsible for construction, monitoring, and repair of the bridge know about the condition of the bridge, and were they doing anything about it? Could this accident have been avoided? Are other bridges safe for us to use?

While bridges and other structures should be constantly monitored for problems, just how much of it is within the control of architects and contruction workers? Such structures are just as strong as man makes them, and our strength and ability only take us so far. And for that matter, there are thousands of potentially dangerous structures to be monitored in America. Workers should work, but there is a time to go home.
