God Bless America!

Tagged:  •

NOTE: This post has no real meaning. It's just a rant on my love. : )

I am so proud to be an American. Yes, I know that our government has it's political troubles, and I'm embarassed by some of the things that are done in our name -- but none of that dents my pride. I'm the type of girl who wipes away tears after singing the anthem at a ball game, or can't stop smiling on election day. I truly believe in my country.  Read More »

Why to Give to the Poor

Thoughts on America and the homeless.

Observation #1: We live in a country in which an economically and mentally stable individual can make a large difference

Observation #2: We have the legal rights to make a large difference

Observation #3: To be apathetic toward a tragedy is to commit a tragedy

Observation #4: Each individual is an individual life and matters as much as any other individual.  Read More »

Private Education in India?

Tagged:  •

The Millenium Development Goal of the UN states that, by the year 2015, all children worldwide should recieve primary education. It's a tall order, and is made larger by the state of the world's poorest countries. One of these is India.

While India is not considered to be a 'developing' nation, it does lie in the 'global south,' and has a large percentage  of poor. Across the country are spread many slums, and the public education system is considered useless by many parents living there.  Read More »

The Dillema of Music in our Generation

Tagged:  •

Welcome to the year 2005. Clothing comes from shops. Peaches come in cans. Knowledge comes in condensed books 'for Dummies.' It is a time of fast lives and quick brains, where humor and wit are prized above all other mental abilities. A time and place where people race to work in vehicles that move more speedily than the fastest mammal on earth, and once there hurry to finish their jobs and zoom home. It is a time where dial-up is too slow, and food has become fast. It is a world of speed and efficiency.  Read More »

But what can we do?

Donating foreign aid now is NOT going to help things. Sending troops will do...nothing. And a big fat zip on any economic help from global-north capitalist socities.

In case you haven't read, the inflation for this particular country is up to %1000 in a year -- a world record for a country not at war. This means something that cost 100k a year ago now costs 1.5 million. And that's ridiculous.  Read More »

Big Trucks are Overcompensation...for what?

I have complete sympathy for the man or woman who works in construction and drives a huge Ford f-150 to haul gravel and dirt. That is understandable. But we don't live in a society that focuses mainly on hard physical labor. The USA is a tetiary society, based on services and educated jobs. So why is it that there are so many big trucks out there? I promise, every guy who bought the ability to does not need to haul however-many-thousand pounds in the back of his pickup.  Read More »

An old file

Hmm. I found this in a  file from a few years ago. Hope I don't offend anyone. I just thought it somewhat interesting.

Observation #1: All people long for God, and all people search for what they desire.

Observation #2: By definition, there are an infinite array of Gods possible, since
A. God is infinite and
B. God is what we as an individual define Him as.

Observation #3: By definition, God is a matter of faith and can't be proven.

Deduction #1: The probability of believing in the ACTUAL God is mathematically represented as 1:infinity-1 (a simplified version; with repetitive permutations and the like, the equation is much more complicated; but it ultimately means the same thing).

Deduction #2: Any given person believes in a God that, in all high probability, DOES NOT EXIST.  Read More »

Sueing for Apples

Tagged:

The Beatles sooooooo had it first.

The apple! The apple albums! You know, the ones with a big, green apple logo on the records!

Well, apple music isn't theirs anymore, apparently.

The remaining two Beatles, Ringo Starr and Paul McCarthy, brought a lawsuit against iTunes, saying that the logo of an apple for a music company was copyright infringement.  Read More »
