A Disgusting Criminal

Tagged:  •

Last night while watching America's Most Wanted I saw this heart-wrenching story.

A teenager boy had kidney failure and needed a transplant. His single mother gave him one of her kidneys, but his body rejected it.

As a last resort she went and found his father, who was in jail for numerous crimes. He had hearings so the court could decide whether or not they should let him go have tests done to see if he was a match.  Read More »

Girls *Not* Gone Wild

"CHICAGO - The American Medical Association is warning girls not to go wild during spring break."

"Sizable numbers reported getting sick from drinking, and blacking out and engaging in unprotected sex or sex with more than one partner, activities that increase their risks for sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies."  Read More »

Old Age and Kidney Failure

Tagged:

There is a man I know who is about 92 years old and my mom and I just found out that he had total kidney failure.  He was just in the hospital for 11 days, but his wife finally convinced the doctors to let him come home to die.  They live right on the water in New Jersey so it would obviously be better for him to die next to the calming water than inside some hospital room.

The doctors said that he's too old for a kidney transplant or dialysis.  I was wondering if anyone knew why.  I understand that he would need to be put to sleep for a transplant and probably would die, but I was wondering why they can't use dialysis on an old person.  I don't really know what umch about dialysis, but I was just curious is anyone else really knew why they can't use it on him.  Read More »

Birth Control Pill May Cause Migraines

Tagged:  •    •

Yet another reason why women should be wary of letting doctors prescribe the birth control pill to them.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11641554/

"NEW YORK - Women who take oral contraceptives have increased chances of suffering from both migraines and non-migraine headaches, a large new population-based study shows."

I disagree with contraceptives due to my religious beliefs, but even if I was not religious I don't think I would want to take the birth control pill.  There are sooo many side effects for one little pill.   And so many women take it for medical reasons not even realizing the numerous alternatives that are out there.  For those women who take the pill as a contracepitve, they should be careful.  How much would you give up just to not get pregnant?  Would you be willing to suffer from headaches, migraines, risk of cervical cancer, weight gain, etc?  i know I wouldn't.  I mean, if you're going to use contraceptives I would use condoms, which don't have many health risks.

The Body Snatchers

Tagged:  •    •    •

In the March 6th Newsweek there's an article about men who were looting corpses.  They were taking their bones and replacing them with plumbling pipes.  Then they would sell these various body parts to companies who provide hospitals with these body parts for surgical procedures.  These men would sew their gloves and aprons into the bodies so they wouldn't be caught.  They were hired to embalm the bodies; not to loot them.  And then the men were making up fake death certificates so the companies buying the parts wouldn't reject them if they were from a sickly or very elderly person.  Read More »

A Catholic Millionaire's Dream Town in Florida

Tagged:  •    •

A recent Newsweek has an article about Tom Monaghan (a devout Catholic who founded Domino's Pizza) and his plans to build his dream town in Florida.  There's a 5,000 acre tomato field where he wants to build a cathedral, whole town, Roman Catholic university, etc 30 miles east of Naples.  He plans to build 11,000 homes and already has over 7,000 people who have showed interest in buying a home there.  Read More »

Premarital Sex and Modern Society

Tagged:  •    •

Why is premarital sex the cultural norm in today's society.  Are people's hormones just raging to much that they cannot keep them under control?  Or do people lack good morals?  Maybe they want to get pregnant and get STDS.  Where has the sancitity of marriage gone.

A white wedding dress is supposed to symbolize purity, virginity of the bride.  Nowadays if people actually paid attention to that there would be very few white wedding gowns.  People say all this sex is due to the changing of times.  What, our morals decrease each generation while our promiscuousness increases?   Read More »

Homosexual Sex = Multiple Health Risks

Tagged:  •    •

Okay,  I disagree with homosexual sex due to my strong Catholic beliefs, but having homosexual sex also poses major health risks.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11204417/

This article states, "A particularly bad strain of chlamydia not usually seen in this country appears to be slowly spreading among gay and bisexual men, an infection that can increase their chances of getting or spreading the AIDS virus."  Read More »
