Duke Lacrosse Team: Guilty?

Tagged:  •    •

As most of you probably know, the DNA results came back negative for all 46 Duke lacrosse players who were tested for the stripper's alledged rape.  Does this mean they're innocent?  No.  In 70% of all sexual assault cases, there is no DNA evidence to support the case.  And even if the team members didn't literally rape her, they could have done numerous other things to the woman.   Read More »

Affirmative Action: A Detriment to Society?

Tagged:  •

When is the government going to overturn affirmative action.  Right now it's actually a detriment to society and keeps people from becoming successful - the exact opposite reason for why it was created.

Caucasians dislike affirmative action because:

-It's harder for them to get into their top choice college, and a minority with worse grades than themselves will get in just because of their skin color  Read More »

Sex: A Result of the Media

Tagged:  •    •

In other posts people, including myself, have mentioned how some reasons for so much teen sex these days are the sexually explicit things in the media.  Other posters have disagreed, saying that teens are just naturally sexually charged.  This article shows otherwise:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12130036/

"CHICAGO - Sexually charged music, magazines, TV and movies push youngsters into intercourse at an earlier age, perhaps by acting as kind of virtual peer that tells them everyone else is doing it, a study said on Monday."  Read More »

Jesus Christ, My Lord and Redeemer

Tagged:

Without Jesus as the center of my life, I would be an entirely different person.  He has changed me in so many unimaginable ways, and I can't even express they joy that I have to be one of His followers.

Jesus died for ME!  What a concept.  Would you die for every sinner in the world?  I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to do that.  To know that I am basically perfect in every way, but let myself die to save everyone's imperfections?  That is intense love right there.  Read More »

Inhumane Execution Methods Warning!: Graphic

Tagged:  •    •

I am against the death penalty in all circumstances, but this post is not about whether or not I think the death penalty should be legal.  This is about the various methods of execution that have been used in the United States.

Our definition of cruel and unusual punishment is always changing here in the United States.  This has caused a lot of irony.  In the past, we have considered hanging, electrocution, the firing squad, the gas chamber, and lethal injection all humane.  But now most states only use lethal injection because they consider the rest to be inhumane.  When will we change our minds once again, and ban lethal injection, saying that it is inhumane?   Read More »

9/11 Movie: Too Soon?

Tagged:  •    •    •

Hollywood is now making two movies about the events of September 11th.  Is this too soon, though?

Trailers for "United 93" have caused a lot of uproar.  The preview has no voice-over or actors; it starts with real images from the day of 9/11, including a plane hitting the World Trade Center.  Last week this trailer was played before the movie "Inside Man" at Grauman's Chinese Theatre and audience members were very upset.  Some of them cried out, "too soon!"  In another theater where the trailer was released in Manhattan, people were also angry.  Some were crying.  Read More »
