The Coachella Valley is home to thousands of homeless. Organizations such as Martha’s Kitchen, The Well In The Desert, Food In Need Of Distribution , Food Not Bombs and many others help support these less fortunate people. I have worked with the homeless for a few years and I know some of them are really there because of addiction, because of themselves and no one else.

Testing your standards
I am a high school senior and I really hate standardized testing. I understand the significance of state testing and appreciate the help it can be for students. The standardized testing that I can’t stand is the testing that is practically required and is monopolized by Collegeboard.
f*@# the police
Both a rebel yell and offensive blurt , this saying has been used within punk culture for years. The purpose of the police is to protect and serve the community, which we should be thankful for. However, this saying doesn't pick the individuals who protect the community but the symbol of oppression.
Websites are watching us?
I have read the notion that advertising will become more personal with less than a light heart. The idea of companies monitoring what I do is terrifying. This article in adbusters magazine suggested that future television will be modified for the individual, the commercials aimed towards what you buy and watch. That changes the demographic ideal to a whole new level.
DIY
I am part of the 12:01 arts collective in the coachella valley. We encourage people to buy less, create their own things, reuse, question authority, and be artistic. We have a few different zines since we have branched out from the Coachella Valley into the Santa Cruz area. Any of which can be mailed by request to a reader for free ( we'd be honored!).
