Wal-Mart heir dies in plane crash

John Walton, son of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton and the 11th richest person in the world, was killed in a plane crash in Wyoming. He was 58 years old. The crash occured shortly after takeoff from Jackson Hole Airport in Grand Teton National Park at about 1:20 p.m. CDT. Walton was the only person killed in the crash.  Read More »

U.S. Supreme Court rules unanimously against Grokster and file sharing

The U.S. Supreme Court
today ruled that Internet file sharing networks can be sued for
copyright infringement. The decision in the case "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer
Studios Inc. et al. v. Grokster, Ltd. et al." had been much awaited by
those on both sides of the debate about copyright law and its
application to Internet technologies. The court ruled that businesses
created with the purpose of letting users commit copyright violations

Police arrest mother of 12-year-old killed by pit bull

Maureen Faibish of San Francisco was arrested on June 24, 2005 on the charge of child endangerment in the actions leading up to the death of her son, 12-year-old Nicholas Faibish, who was mauled by one or both of her two pit bull dogs, Rex 2 and Ella.

Nicholas was discovered dead in the front bedroom of her home at
approximately 15:15 PDT on June 3, 2005, by his mother, who had left
the house to run some errands. She had locked her son in the basement
to keep him away from the dogs. "I put him down there, with a shovel on
the door.", Faibish said in a telephone interview to the San Francisco
Chronicle. "He had a bunch of food. And I told him, 'Stay down there

Dublin welcomes U2 back for hometown gig

240,000 U2 fans are preparing for
Ireland's most successful band ever to return for a hometown gig in Dublin. The supergroup is playing Friday, Saturday and
Monday in front of 80,000 people a night at Croke Park. Gardai
have put
in place a massive traffic management plan to cope with the influx of
people. Fans have been queing since thursday morning when a
group of fans from Holland, Italy and Canada started queing outside the

Biden getting headstart on run for presidency

Although the next U.S. presidential election is more than three years away, U.S. senator Joseph Biden (DemocratDelaware) has already announced his intentions of
running. Although he originally said in December 2004 that he would wait
two years to make a decision, he told Face The Nation on Sunday that he will spend this year trying to "explore his
support", adding, "[I'm going to take my] game on the road, letting people know what I think." He also told the CBS news show that he will make his decision as to whether or

House passes amendment banning flag burning

The House of Representives today passed an amendment that would
prohibit the burning of the Flag of the United
States
. The bill was passed by a vote of 286 to 130. The required two-thirds was present. This is the fifth time a flag burning amendment
