Abortion ramifications

I apologize beforehand, this will involve some very graphic description.

All human beings have the right to life.  If an unborn child can be legally aborted, it is legally not a person.  Legally it is typically treated as part of a woman's body.  Let us operate under that assumption for now.

Let's say I'm married, and my wife is pregnant.  Let's say some guy walks up to her with a baseball bat and beats the crap out of her stomach with it, so much that the child miscarries.  This man has killed my future son or daughter.  However, that man can only be charged with battery.  If the child is not human, but part of my wife's body, than the man can not be charged with the murder of my unborn child.  He can only be charged with battery.  Read More »

If any of you have seen the movie Swordfish, you will recognize this moral conundrum.  I apologize if this offends anyone.  I simply feel it is a question worth asking.

This is a purely hypothetical situation.  It is unrealistic.  However, the goal here is to examine our own morals, not to tear apart to logistics of the situation. 

You are given a knife, and left in a room with a 5 year old girl.  There is a big window in the room.  On the other side is a man with his finger on the detonator trigger for a nuclear warhead in a village in Montana.  He gives you a choice.  You can choose to kill the girl, or not to kill the girl.  If you do not kill the girl, he will set off the nuke.  If you kill the girl, he will permanently disable the nuke and never set it off.  Read More »

I know that many of us are religious people. I sure am. But we are not here to impose our Religious Morality onto others. Our laws ARE meant to help uphold moral issues.
