Wow ... I'm sure all of you, who have been listening to the news and reading the paper, have heard that Pluto has been downsized - to Dwarf Planet. Why was it downsized? Well, in my Astronomy class today we were discussing this very thing. Technically, according to NASA (and paraphrasing quite a bit), Pluto is too small to be a planet yet too big to be anything else ... If this is so, then why have we considered Pluto a planet for the last ...

Pluto: Downsized to Dwarf?

The Da Vinci Code
Okay ... so everyone has heard of Dan Brown's famous novel The Da Vinci Code. And millions and millions of people have read it, myself included. I personally believe that it was a great piece of literature, full of mystery, suspense, and action. The thought that the contents of his novel are true only crossed my mind twice, and it's hard to influence my beliefs when I have a strong opinion on them.

JFK assassination
For the past two weeks, my English class and I have been discussing the JFK assassination and all of the conspiracy theories revolving around it. It is the one of the biggest conspiracies (or mysteries) in our nation's history. Now, for my English class, our final is a debate over each theory. We had to break up into four groups (each group has it's own theory) and my group just so happened to like the "Magic Bullet" theory the best. We started doing research on it and I was surprised to find no more than sixteen conspiracy theories out there about the assassination. The main four that we are debating are: 1. Oswald did it alone a.k.a the "Magic Bullet" theory, 2. the mofia did it, 3. the Democrats had something to do with it (Lyndon Johnson and his crew), and 4. Fidel Castro sent an assassin and pinned it on Oswald.

Bible and Dinosaurs ...
I would like to know why there is nothing in the Bible about the complete destruction of the dinosaurs. I mean, in the Bible it states that man was the first being created and then it was everything else so man and the dinosaurs co-existed at the same time. So how did man survive the killing of all things on the planet? I just want an answer.
**This is a question that my friend wanted someone to answer for him**

94 Years Ago Today
On Apil 14, 1912, the RMS Titanic struck an iceburg about 900 miles south of Newfoundland, Canada. I'm sure everyone is familiar with the famous sinking of the Titanic. It was, afterall, one of the highest grossing films in the decade. Today, at 11:40 pm, will be the 94th year that the Titanic struck the iceburg and tomorrow morning at 2:20 am (April 15), will be the 94th year that it's been under the Atlantic Ocean. If you want some more information about it (and about how so many more live could have been saved) please visit: http://www.historychannel.com/tdih/tdih.jsp?month=10272956&day=10272980&cat=10272946

Discovery of the 10th Planet
If you're like me, then you like to keep yourself updated on astronomical findings ... and guess what! A "10th planet" was discovered. Dr. Mike Brown, of the California Institute of Technology, Chad Trujilo of the Gemini Observatory, and David Rabinowitz of Yale University took the first pictures of the new planet with the 48-inch Samuel Oschin telescope in October of 2003. They reported that the object was so far away, they didn't even analyze the pictures until January of 2005. They say now that they're 100% sure that it's the first biggest object discovered in the outer Solar System. Astronomers are still debating names for this "10th planet", but they call it by their scientific code: 2003UB313

Anger vs. Domestic Violence
**NOTE: The names in this blog have been changed due to privacy.
I met one of my best friends, Chrissy, while working at a movie theatre in our home town about two years ago. We were just friendly aquaintances, but then we found out we were going to the same college! We were excited! Not only did we get to see each other more often, but we were able to hang out a little more than we would otherwise. When December came, my roommate decided living thirteen hours away from her home state of Iowa was a bit too far, and left. This became a great opportunity. Chrissy was frustrated with having to drive thirty minutes every day to get to school, so I offered her Amber's place as my roommate. The moment Chrissy moved in with me, things changed drastically. Only a month before, I got a new boyfriend, and since I didn't have a job, I left every weekend to see him. This left her alone, and I felt bad, but once she met Brian down the hall, things got better for her. Brian was a good guy, a sweet and caring person, but before I met my boyfriend, he had a weird obsessed crush on me. It turned into jealousy when I told him that I was meeting my boyfriend over winter break, and of course, being the friend he was, he told me to be careful, but every part of him was jealous. He even told me he wanted to shove a 45 calibur rifle through my computer screen because I was talking to my boyfriend. He kept looking over my shoulder, reading what I was writing, and it began to get annoying. After my boyfriend and I hooked up, he slowly began to leave me alone. I was relieved.

A Man Gets A Year In Jail For Stealing ... Panties
A 25-year-old Wisconsin man is sentenced to a year in jail for stealing ... underwear. Not just any underwear, but "distinctive-looking" thongs. Wow ... What has our government come to? Arresting a man and sentencing him to jail for stealing a woman's underwear? Honestly, I started laughing when I read to article on www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12247573/.
