Terms of Use (Service) -- No One Is Safe....

Tagged:  •

I joined this site back in October 2006, at the start of the Fall 2006 Blogging for Progress Scholarship Competition. I joined for many of the same reasons you all did, to try to get some money for school expenses. I didn't win that competition, and I dropped out of the next to join the staff of the site about two months before the end of the competition.  Read More »

How Much Can you Avoid?

Tagged:  •    •    •

As technology improves, so do the materials we use. However, sometimes the materials we think are amazing aren't actually amazing in practice. CFCs were used as cooling agents in refrigerating units for years, until we discovered that they were destroying our ozone layer. Asbestos was a great insulator... until we discovered it caused lung cancer.  Read More »

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •

Many of you probably know by now that any source of fat can be converted into bio-diesel fuel. You can run a diesel engine on pure vegetable oil. It ends up being more expensive than regular diesel, of course, but it's a way a variety of companies are trying to make use of their waste. Tyson, for instance, is trying to run their trucks on chicken fat.  Read More »

So... Are You Jewish or Christian?

Tagged:  •    •    •    •

My first introduction to Messianic Judaism was several years ago while I was still in high school. One of my mom's Baptist friends gave her a Messianic Bible to pass along to me (after she heard I was dating a Jewish guy). She thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Turns out, it was just a regular Christian Bible, with a little more Hebrew interpretation and whatnot, aimed at Jews.  Read More »

"Why Write A Book?"

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •

I was reading a blog entry on the Beacon Broadside page in which the blogger explains why he's writing a book, despite the fact that the people the book would be aimed towards probably wouldn't read it, or wouldn't agree with it if they did.  Read More »
