Everyone is making a big deal out of Obama being (partially) black and Clinton being a woman. What an exciting time to be alive and witnessing politics! You know what would be a whole lot more controversial and a whole lot more exciting? I would like to see someone who is gay run for president.
This topic has been wrung dry and I apologize. i just need to get my thoughts out.
I’m not in high school any more (thank goodness), but I would like to examine this subject seeing as it’s that time of year again.
I am tired of people (particularly those older than myself) informing me that it is MY generation that will have to deal with X, Y, or Z. I want to be perfectly clear: I realize this. I am completely and fully aware that the nation is in a downward spiral and that all the problems that have been created by the baby boomers are left to my self-indulged generation.
The boys at the end of the street play basketball. Topless.
The humidity is suffocating. I am clothed.
Men mow the grass. Topless.
Temperatures exceed one hundred. I am covered.
It starts to rain. The boys rip off their shirts.
It starts to rain. I take off my shoes.
Strange that a mere word is the means by which immensely complicated concepts are conveyed. Freedom. Justice. Equality.
Progress.
In place of the country that was envied above all others is a sorry excuse for a nation. Consumed by recession and war, the United States has become a global mockery. The poor state of the union and its stained reputation pose serious problems for the successive president.

1 Nose to smell the enticing earth
2 Lips with which one explores
2 Ears which hear the symphonies of day and night
2 Arms and 2 hands in order to embrace

Dear Smoker,
This is a letter to kindly request that you discontinue blowing smoke in my face. If necessary, perhaps you could stand or walk downwind from me. I do not mean to offend you, but as you might have heard, smoking is very hazardous to the health. I do not wish to be subjected to your second hand smoke.
