The continued effects of enslavement...

I was listening to V-103 yesterday as they had listeners calling in to inquire about the "LOVELY" candidates selling their souls for a vote and an elder black woman called in. Frank Ski asked her to state her comment and she replied " I have never voted before but listening to your show made me want to vote. My granddaughter asked me in the car who was I going to vote for and I told her, I don't know who is running or what they are about but I am voting Democrat." She then proceeded to ask Frank Ski if the ballots distinguish between who is democrat, republican, libertarian, etc. and he said yes. She followed up by saying "I am voting Democrat , everyone just vote Democrat." Frank Ski replied that was good.  Read More »

Atlanta's 1906 race riots

In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Atlanta Race Riot I just want to post this blog in an attampt to increase public awareness of this shameful episode in the city’s history and inspire Atlantans to appreciate differences as opportunities to build community.

During the summer of 1906, white fears of Blacks’ increasing economic and social power, sensationalized rhetoric from white politicians, and unsubstantiated news stories about a black crime wave created a powder keg of racial tension in Atlanta.  The powder keg exploded on the night of September 22nd in what became known as the Atlanta Race Riot. By the time the riot ended on September 25th, at least 25 blacks and two whites lay dead. Over 70 were injured.  Read More »
