Sometimes I really go get worried about the seemingly perpetually elevating gas prices... when will it stop? I know that boycott is useless, because us americans rely so heavily on our cars and we need gas, so the economic concept of supply and demand allows oil companies to keep the prices high. It's kind of strange, because I never was aware of this fact, but a very well known date has been shifted in perspective in my world. April 20th of every single year is thought to be a day where all the stoner kids can rejoice and celebrate by lighting up. It's illegal, but it seems fun and rebellious at the same time to most people.

A day Without Mexicans
So today is May 1st, the official Day without Mexicans. I've noticed way emptier classrooms at schools, and as far as I can tell, these absentees are out protesting. I think that the school system is a little upset, because they won't be getting there $150 per student today, but the real question is... what matters more? Whether students succumb to the suggestions of their teachers, or whether they feel they have the rights to stand up for their rights? I think it's important to allow yourself to protest, and the issue is personal to many Hispanics, because a lot of them feel it's a direct offense to them. if that's what they feel, why try and force them to deny it?
