Plastic Surgery/Plastic People

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •

I have yet to understand plastic surgery and the rapidly increasing population having it done.  I'm comfortable in my own skin.  No, I've never daydreamed of having bigger this or smaller that.  Not even once.  Honest.  Would I need it to fit in with the Hiltons and Simpsons of the world?  Yes!  Do I want to fit in?  No.  I think all people are

Blogging is about your viewpoint.  Your personal feelings.  Your ideas.  Your opinions.  Your hates, your loves, your wishes, your dreams, your breakfast if you want.  Which is not the same as, say reading something on CNN and saying, Oh, that's interesting, I think I'll put in on PU.  If you read something and it strikes a nerve or inspires you, etc. then write about it.  In your words.  If I want to read the news I know which sites to go to.  Yeah, just my two cents.  I feel better.

Is Being Rude Really Necessary??

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •

Okay, I get it, some people have bad days.  Some people could be experiencing some emotional issues, some personal problems, life - fine.  What I don't get is why it has to be thrown my way.  Some people are just naturally nasty regardless of how nice you are to them and it just irks me to no end. When I try to be nonreactive and just take it, it seems to turn into a situation where they think they can act any kind of stupid and then I get ticked because I think I've given them too much and turn into a major one myself.  What is a person to do and why are so many damn people just angry and vicious all the time??  Is sadistic behavior the norm now?

The Misunderstood Muslim

Okay, I'm finishing up a World Religions class.  I honestly only took the class to fill a requirement and wasn't greatly interested at first.  But I was pleasantly surprised and learned to love the class and get to know a lot of the people in it.  The one day, I was surprised to hear a conversation coming from one of the students behind me talking to the professor.  She asked a couple of weeks ago which religions we had left to cover and he told her.  And she said, "Oh, good, so we're not covering that trash religion."  Of course he asked her which one she would be referring to and she said Islam.  She was making her remarks and laughing and other people were laughing right along with her.  The professor soon told her that we weren't covering it in the book because a group was doing a presentation on it.

SAVE DARFUR: Stop Genocide

Following that tragedy of the Holocaust, the world vowed: "Never again." Yet, once again, a systematic campaign of genocide is claiming the lives of an ever-escalating number of civilians in Darfur.

Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize recipient Elie Wiesel said: "I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented."

More Duke Lacrosse Accuser News

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •

I live about 30 minutes from Duke campus.  EVERYbody here has an opinion, or more accurately, has made a decision.  Last night it was released that the  woman who says she was raped by three members of Duke's lacrosse team also told police 10 years ago she was raped by three men.  In 1996 a complaint was filed claiming she had been assaulted three years earlier when she was 14.

United 93 Controversy

Based on the real crash on 9/11.  But of course it's a fictional account of what happened that day.  I respect the believed heroism to have occurred.  And I have a great amount of sorrow for all of those that were involved.  And this movie makes me a little angry. Is there not one traumatic event that has happened in the last one hundred years that hasn't

What have YOU done about your bitching?

Tagged:  •    •    •    •

I am overwhelmed with hearing the same thing everyday.  "How things are today"  "The way the world is"  Tsk, tsk, tsk and shake your head.  What have you done?  Have you ever stopped and TALKED to a homeless person.  Ever volunteered for an organization?  What do you do with your old clothes?  Ever saw someone making a huge mistake and stop them?  Are you doing anything to promote or progress or aid in the success of any one thing or do you sit on your couch and watch the news and wait for someone else to do something?  I'm interested to know who out there is making a change
