The Voting in Arizona

The in other states, good laws and not so good laws have passed. Here are some propostions that got passed or didn't get passed in Arizona, which had the most propostions on the ballad with a total of 19.

1. A law which would define English as our official language. This is in effort to stop the problems with illegal immigrants from coming into the state. I personally agree with it because if I lived in a country, legally or illegally, I would know the language. It would be tough, but don't beg for amnesty one moment but refuse to speak English the next.  Read More »

Food For Thought

Theres a lot of issues going through the world today, nobody can say at this very point that todays world is perfect. democratic or republican, we all have to believe that the president is not the greatest one in the world. I do believe that one day our lives are going to end, one day this generation is going to end, and what if thats day tommorrow. do you really want the next generation to remmember us as what we are today. i know the likelyhood of this generation magically ending is almost impossible, is impossible. but i'm just saying think about. everyone can make a change, but your the only one who can figure out what change you want to, need to, make, if you believe that the world is perfect right now, your just lying to yourself.

Debating

When I was a junior, one of my friends told me that she was completly against abortion. I said, except for rape, incest, when the baby has a genetic disease or when it is harmful to the mother, and to my horror, she said ALL abortion. I stood there for at least ten minutes trying to presude her that she was wrong and I was right. But she just shook her head. Her reasons, two wrongs don't make a right, you have to give the baby a chance and it is God's will. As she walked away, I felt like I had just gotten slapped.  Read More »

Now I understand that there are always going to be ignorant people in this world. Its sad, but it is a fact of live that not everyone is born with the mental capacity to seek more infomation. But sometimes, based on some to of the people in my area, I get really scared about the future of the world. For example, somebody in my history class suggested that we just nuc out the entire middle east. When the teacher said that droping nuclear bombs on an entire region is not the brightest idea, the entire class diagreed.  Read More »

America Votes

Polls always show what may happen at a election, but you can never really predict what will happen. Although voting has become easier with the mail in ballod, some people still for some reason don't vote. The reasons can range from forgetting to register to just not feeling like it. Which considering what voting can decide, even in mid-team elections, can be pretty scary. So far, voting this year is up 50% from last mid-term elections. Depending who exactly turned out, could be good for either party. The polls still have a couple more hours to go, but it seems that people are not leaving it to chance this year.

The Real Issues

The war in Iraq is on everyones minds right now. But when going to the polls don't forget these equally important issues.

Abortion

The main debate with this issue is when life actually begins. Some people, mainly religionous people, believe it is at the point of conception. Others, mainly scientific people, believe it is at a point between two weeks and a month. Eight states have propositions that would conflict with the Roe vs. Wade decision on the balled tomorrow while South Dakoda has already banned it. When voting for this, remember it isn't all black and white. Reasons for an abortion can range from rape and incest to trying to protect a child from Tay-sacs or other lethal genetic diseases. Just because you don't agree with it, doesn't mean you have any right to tell women in these situations what to do.  Read More »

Acting Black

A few summers ago, I was staying with my Grandma in North Carolina. Towards the end of my stay, my cousin called be a racist. After that I ran to mother upset, who told my aunt what my cousin said, who yelled at my cousin for what he said.

The irony about being called a racist is that I probably the world's biggist mutt. I'm half black, part Native American, half-white, with almost every major Europeon Nation in me. I look hispanic, sometimes even Middle Eastern and was mistaken for a native while I was in Hawaii. Plus, when I thought of racist, I thought of Nazi's and the Ku Klux Klan. But as I got older I realize what he meant.  Read More »

Teachers

When my sister said that she wanted to be a teacher, I thought nothing of it. Teachers are hard-working people who have to deal with problems I could never deal with, like smart mouth kids and tons of papers to grade. But someone has to do it and I think my sister would be good with that. Plus, she would be happy to basically have summers off. However, my dad flipped out. He said that she was too smart to ever became a teacher and that she was crazy to even suggest it.  Read More »
