Would you like to see me miserable?

My ex-boyfriend was really good in a lot of ways, except one. He was the biggest competitor I ever have known. Wheither it was a friendly game of soccer or a game of go fish, he had to win it. I, on the other hand, like seeing other people do well. If someone beats me in a race in track, then kudos to that person. Not the best aditude, but I really think that being so competative sucks the fun out of everything.  Read More »

Neither of my parents are big on religion. That doesn't mean they aren't religious; they just don't like organized religion. Part of me sees why.

Although I consider myself a Catholic, I've been told many a time that I'm not. Mostly because of my political beliefs. Do I believe that the death penalty is a sin? Well, kind of, but thats just because I'm not an eye for an eye type of girl. Do I believe in the death penalty, period? Part of me sees the practical part of the death penalty. Some people go beyond evil and despictable. Although most of them won't get the death penalty, there is a part that does. Now, most people don't understand what I just said and I'm not going to take the time to explain it again. The best way to get to the point is to just say that I think religion and politics should be keep as far apart as humanly possible.  Read More »

Rumsfeld charged with War Crimes?

Two days after the Democrats took hold of both the House and the Senate, Donald Rumsfeld stepped down as Secretary of Defense. Days after that, there is talk of charging him with War crimes.

An international group of lawyers have filled a lawsuit, asking German Prosecuters to investigate Rumsfeld for allegations of war crimes which stem from the treatment of prisoners in Iraq and at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. The suit also calls for the investigation of 11 other individuals, including Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales whom it alleges either ordered the torture of prisoners or drafted laws that legitimated its use. The suit was filled on behalf of 12 detainees whom accuse the 11 former and current officials of beatings, starvation, sexual humiliation and sleep deprevation.  Read More »

Is MTV doing the schools job?

About ten years ago, my school district was debating on what they should teach, Safe sex or Abstadence. People for safe sex argued that teens were going to have sex, and to not teach them how to do it safely was skipping a huge responsibility. People for abstadence said it was the only sure way to not get pregnant or get STDs. After debating, trying to comprimise and having numerous opinions on the subject, the district came to one decision, to not teach anything at all. Yes, we had the talk about our parts in the fifth grade. Yes, they did one of the weirdest dances around the subject in seventh. Yes, they talked about STDs in the tenth, but that was just a general, these are STDs, and heres what they do, talk, rather then heres STDs, heres the only sure way to protect youselves from them or if your going to do that, you also have to do this talk. Now, I would never recommend that to anybody, but there hasn't been any STD break-outs, only five girls in my class have gotten themselves pregnant, and pretty much everybody in the school somehow has a clear understanding about protection.  Read More »

Brittany Spears and Kevin Federline are only they latest casualties of the recent string of divorce annoucements. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe announced there split two weeks ago. Before that was Whitney Hustain and Bobby Brown. Months ago it was Hillary Swank and Chad Lowe. And years ago it was Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey. But do you notice anything about these names? Well, let me give you some more names. Brad Pitt and Angalina Jolie. Tom Cruse and Katie Holmes. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith. The Death of Ed Bradley

Ed Bradley died on Nov. 9th, 2006 of Leukemia. He was 65. He was a correspondent for CBS for over 35 years and won 19 Emmys, a Peabody Award, and a Robert Kennedy Award. He worked for 60 minute since 1981, with news segments ranging from the reopening of the case of Emmitt Till, a black teen killed because of his race in the 1950s, and the only television interview with Timmethy Mcveigh in 2000. He was entertaining as well as one of the best field reporters of our time. Katie Couric described him as "smooth, cool, a great reporter, beloved and respected by all of his colleagues here at CBS News." He was a truely great field reporter whom I respected greatly for his accomplishments.

We should ban tobacco.

Think about. It causes thousands of deaths a year. It is disgusting, whether smoked or chewed. And unlike marijuna, there is no medicinal use for it.

Now, I've heard several arguments against it. One is that people should be adults and make their own decisions. However, we have ban other drugs, like meth, crack and heroin, not leaving those adults to make their own decision. Now it can be said that those are different because they can actually mess up some of the chemicals in your body. But while tobacco on its own might not be addicting, the nicotine in it is. And someone who is addicted to that nicotine will experience some symtems of addictions, even if they are on a much smaller level.  Read More »
