Mel Gibson tops Hollywood's 50 most frigid list

In the 1980s, Mel Gibson was named the sexiest man alive. In 2006, he topped a very different list.

Film Threat is an independent film Web site that rates what they call the "least-powerful, least-inspiring, least-intriguing people in all of Tinseltown." Mr. Gibson has the displeasure of topping this list following his anti-Semitic remarks he made during his arrest on suspicion of drunken driving.  Read More »

Ban on Silicon Breast is lifted. Tell me why again.

On November 17, 2006 the ban on silicone breast implants was lifted. Though “reasonably safe,” silicone-gel breast implants won’t last a lifetime and women who get them probably will need surgery again, the government warned as it ended a 14-year virtual ban on what arguably are the nation’s most controversial medical devices.

The FDA cleared manufacturers Mentor Corp. and Inamed Corp. — now part of Allergan Inc. — to start selling the implants again, more than a decade after the devices were yanked off the market for fears that they could cause myriad diseases  Read More »

This is a story that really caught my eye.

An art exhibit featuring deep-fried American flags, complete with peanut oil and black pepper, has been removed by a museum director in the military-friendly town of Clarkesville, Tennessee.

Art student William Gentry said his piece, "The Fat Is in the Fire," was a commentary on obesity in America. "I deep-fried the flag because I'm concerned about America and about America's health," Gentry said.  Read More »

A 21-year-old anorexic model who weighed only 88 pounds has died of generalized infection, a hospital said. Ana Carolina Reston, who had worked in China, Turkey, Mexico and Japan for several modeling agencies, died Tuesday, according to Sao Paulo's Servidor Publico Hospital.

The hospital said the infection that killed the 5-foot-8-inch model was caused by anorexia nervosa, a disorder characterized by an abnormal fear of becoming obese, an aversion to food and severe weight loss.  Read More »

Man shows up to DUI hearing drunk

According to Charleston police, Stephen Lewis Skiles raised the ire of a judge after he showed up for a DUI hearing - drunk.

Skiles appeared at the administrative hearing at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 14. He had been charged with DUI after a May 19 incident in which he came through a seatbelt educational checkpoint with a blood-alcohol limit of .025, "well over two times the legal limit," according to Sgt. Terry Shawn Williams of the Charleston Police Department.  Read More »

Oh, what to do about illegal immigrations?

Illegal immigration. It is among the hot topics right know, but thats getting to be a crowded club. But while I have a a firm position on some of the other issues, I'll admit I'm wishy-washy on immigration.

There are tons of laws being passed to curb illegal immigration. Just last week, Arizona decided to make English its official language. A town in Nevada named Pahrump made it illegal to fly a foreign flag by itself. The city council in Farmers Branch, Texas passed ordinances that would make it harder for illegal immigrants to live and work in Farmers Branch that include allowing local authorities to screen suspects in police custody to check their immigration status.  Read More »

Is it good to be selfish?

I read the Fountainhead last year for school. In the novel, it stresses that being selfish isn't a bad thing; in fact, it says it is a good thing. Which I guess I could see that point. I mean, there is the old saying, you can't help others if you can't help yourself.

But I am a really selfless person. I like helping others. I'm not cut throat and I truely enjoy seeing other people happy. I like compromise, something else the novel doesn't hold in high esteem, and I think the world would be a better place if we were less selfish.  Read More »

Some think Pollution might Save the Planet

Source:AP

In past years, the Earth has grown hotter in some areas. This summer saw record numbers in some states. And even though Thanksgiving is a little more than a week away, here in Arizona people are still wearing shorts and a T-shirt. Most people say the rise in temperture is due to global warming, which makes perfect sense. But a preminant group of scientists are suggesting a different approach.  Read More »
