Ok, I’m just confused about this.

Today, my sister was going to go to the mall with her friend.

Now here’s some background knowledge about my sister. She is an atheist, and some people at her school call her stuff like Anti-Christ, the devils daughter, just the devil, Damia, Satan’s minions, and other stupid stuff like that. Her school is full of religious freaks, and most people find her scary just by the way she dresses and acts.  Read More »

Whether You're for or against it, just keep your mouth shut about Iraq.

I know what your thinking, "It is my constitutional right to speak my opinion." It is what this site is for anyway. While it is okay to be opinionated, I hope after you read this you will see my point. Maybe not.

Don't say you're for the war.

If you are for the war, then go over and fight it. The minimum age to enlist is 17 and the maximum age is 35 years old, but for the Army National Guard, the maximum age for non-prior service enlistment is age 39. So, if your below the age of 39 and above the age of 17, and you are happy that we are in Iraq, then enlist. Yeah, the majority of the people will be turned away, but if you want a war, you should be willing to at least try and fight it.  Read More »

More than 140 bodies turn up on Baghdad streets

I'll admit, I don't want to here about the war anymore. I understand that it is a part of everyday life, but it is just depressing. I never here anything good about it anymore. So I just block it out. If a story comes on the news about Iraq, I turn off the tv. If any of my friends start talking about Iraq, I switch the subject. Because, frankly, we can talk about it all we want, for good or bad, but it isn't going to change anything about it.  Read More »

Want to Kill somebody? Just wait till you're 80.

November 20 was George Russell Weller's lucky day. The 89-year-old man whose car hurtled through a farmers market, killing 10 people and injurying 70, was let off on probation Monday by a judge who said he believed the defendant deserved to go prison but was too ill.

Seriously?

Weller was placed on five years' felony probation. The judge also ordered him to pay about $101,700 in penalties, including fines and restitution for families of two victims. Restitution for the remainder of the victims was still being resolved.  Read More »

Do Parents who relequish babies deserve counceling?

I have a cousin. She decided to give her baby up for adoption, since she was only 19, and picked out a family to have her baby. They were there for the birth, but then changed her mind and decided to keep the baby. Six months later, the baby was dead. And nobody could come up with a clear reason why. The eventual reason was SIDS, but a lot of people noticed that the baby was abused before it died. My cousin was arrested, but she was never charged with anything. Five years later, and she has three kids.  Read More »

Can the Sun prevent ovarian cancer?

Tagged:  •

Women in the sunnier regions of the world have a much lower risk of ovarian cancer than those who dwell in colder climates, a new study has found.

The findings, say researchers, suggest that sun exposure — and, more precisely, vitamin D production in the body — help prevent this cancer.

The study, which appears in the December issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, is the latest to tie latitude to cancer risk. Others have found that rates of breast cancer and colon cancer, for example, are higher among people living in higher latitudes, where annual sun exposure is limited.  Read More »

Bush's controversial family-planning pick

The Bush administration has appointed a new chief of family-planning programs at the Department of Health and Human Services who worked at a Christian pregnancy-counseling organization that regards the distribution of contraceptives as "demeaning to women."

Eric Keroack, medical director for A Woman's Concern, a nonprofit group based in Dorchester, Mass., will become deputy assistant secretary for population affairs in the next two weeks, department spokeswoman Christina Pearson said yesterday.  Read More »

Blood dripped down the 16-year-old girl’s face after another beating by her drug addict husband. Worn down by life’s pain, she ran to the kitchen, doused herself with gas from a lamp and struck a match.

Desperate to escape domestic violence, forced marriage and hardship, scores of women across Afghanistan each year are committing suicide by fire. While some gains have been made since the fall of the Taliban five years ago, life remains bleak for many Afghan women in the conservative and violence-plagued country, and suicide is a common escape.  Read More »
