Isn't it amazing how some children are never watched, and yet nothing bad ever happens to them? For instance, in my town, there are these three children between the ages of 2 and 6 who always play in the road, thier parents never know where they are, and nothing bad ever happens. The smallest girl once stopped traffic in the middle of a busy highway two blocks from thier house, and the mother never even knew that the child was gone.

Bayou Farewell: The Rich Life and Tragic Death of Louisiana's Cajun Coast by Mike Tidwell
This book is an excellent portrait of the causes and ramifications of the loss of the Louisiana coastline. It represents the natives of the area, and gives a firsthand look of how thier lives have been impacted by the loss of coastal area - for example, entire villages being erased from existence. It give the sense of being a travel guide, taking you through the Louisiana coastal area, while presenting heart wrenching facts, figures, and lives.
