Illegal Immigration

All of this media attention on immigration has put a spot light on the problem. Although I feel for the imigrants coming over from Mexico, I don't think they should be here if they haven't done it legally. If we allowed every foreigner that had problems in their homelands to come to America whenever they felt like it, who knows what kind of problems we'd be facing. I think boarder patrol needs to be more strictly inforced. I have no problems with people immigrating here legally, but its the people that sneak over here with out the proper paper work and everything that ruin it for every one else.

Gas Tax Break

I heard about this new "gas tax break" and I think it's the dumbest thing of my life. Rather than researching alternative fuel sources, our government wants to give people money so they can buy more gas. Ooooh man that is just about the stupidest idea EVER! Senators are voting on the bill now, but they rejected a bill to force car manufacturers to develop cars that are more fuel efficient or run on someting other than fossil fuels.

War

I'm totally against this war that we're in right now. We're in the same exact boat we were in 40 years ago during the war in Vietnam. Can't the president see that history repeats itself? I don't know what he's trying to accomplish over there, but everyday we're at war more innocent blood is shed (American and Iraqi) and more money is spent that we don't have. I have nothing against the solidiers there, they're just doing their job.

Myspace

Tagged:  •

I hate it when I'm watching the news and I see something about Myspace predators. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life. There are sickos and pedifiles out there and if people are dumb enough to talk to them then they shouldn't even have a myspace. I don't think Myspace should be used so much as a way to meet people as it is a way to stay connected with your friends. People have munipulated this website into a horrible, obsessive monster. I like it, but its gaining such a stygmatism as a breeding ground for child molestors. If someone is young enough to be child molested then they shouldn't even be talking to people they don't know online. Of course if you tell someone not to do something they're only going to want to do it more. I don't know how to solve this problem, but I think people have made Myspace out to be something horrible when it's intentions are purely good.

Obesity and the American People

Tagged:  •

I've heard that more than half of our population is obese. That is mind boggling to think about! I know some people are naturally over weight, but can that many people really be that fat natuarally to the point where they are classified as obese? I always here how the schools, fast food, yada yada yada is being blamed for it. Although it is their fault to some extent, I don't think schools and the fast food industry should be held accountable for this crisis at all.

Assisted Suicide

Tagged:  •

Last year for my english class we all had to a research project on a controversial issue. I chose to do assisted suicide. After learning so much about it, I've become in favor for it. Besides the fact that it should be everyone's descion to live or die, if people are so sick to the point where it hurts them badly enough to want to die, then they should be able to. When an animal is injured any humane person would be quick to put it out of its misery, so why should it be any different for humans? Assisted Suicide became most publicly know when Dr.

Port Orange Police

Tagged:  •

I don't know if anyone reading this lives in Port Orange or has ever had to deal with their police, but it's crazy how much they can get away with. The police in Port Orange are rude, arrogant, and eager to arrest. It's gotten to the point where I've seen icons on friends' myspaces that say "Welcome to Port Orange, you're under arrest." Honestly, I'm not exagerating.

Wal-Mart

Tagged:  •

I know this might sound dumb or a little extreme, but doesn't it seem like Wal-Mart is taking over the world? lol. I live in Daytona Beach, and within like a ten mile radius they plan on having a total of 4 Wal-Marts. It's ridiculous. Two are already built and they want to build two more, one of them where a horse stable is, the other where a school is. It's totally unnecessary to have that many Wal-Marts so close to each other.
