Medicare is not just for seniors

The Medicare Part D drug plan drama is still going on in our state.

The local pharmacies are still trying to get the business of the seniors and the disabled.

I have first-hand knowledge of the decison making process both through my dad (a retired senior) and myself (a disabled person).

I found much age discrimination with this plan.  A regular senior can have Medicare Part A and B and then go elsewhere for a plan to cover the gaps in coverage (Medicare doesn't cover everything).  My dad was able to find a plan for a small monthly fee.  And now he doesn't pay a dime for any medical expenses except a few prescriptions.  Read More »

The Suffering Saga

The issue:  respect for "hidden disabilities".

The disability: chronic daily headache, migraine with and without aura, frequent neurological impairment, restless legs syndrome (as well as hypothyroidism and possibly a parathyroid condition currently being investigated).

The question: why is society so quick to reject the validity of a pain condition?

Introduction to Chronic Pain

For my first entry I  would like to introduce you to my friend, Pain.

Pain is with me all day and all night.  Pain likes to be the dominant figure where ever we are.

I have thought about all the medical community has and has not done for me for many years.

It is my intent to kick Pain down into oblivion and take my life back.

As a step in that direction, I want to gain employment in the healthcare field and give patients a little ray of hope that a chronic condition could be cured or at least controlled.  Read More »
