Two CBS News Employees Killed in Iraq Bombing

I wrote back when Bob Woodruff, an ABC News anchor, was injured about our selective memory when it comes to Iraq.

It is sad that it takes something like Woodruff being injured or Jill Carroll being abducted to make the American people notice the deaths in Iraq

On Memorial Day, the day to honor our troops, a cameraman and soundman for CBS News were killed, while a correspondant was seriously injured. They were injured when a nearby car exploded, showering the Humvee caravan they were traveling with in shrapnel.

Cameraman Paul Douglas had spent more than a decade covering the world's hot spots for CBS News. Freelance soundman James Brolan was part of a CBS team honored for its dispatches on the earthquake in Pakistan. Correspondent Kimberly Dozier had reported on the deteriorating situation in Iraq for nearly three years.  Read More »

Gen Michael Hayden Confirmed as CIA Director

Only a week ago -- just a solitary week -- Air Force Gen. Michael Hayden's confirmation as the new CIA Director was ... not in trouble, but not on firm ground either. Or would he be a Pentagon shill in charge of the CIA?  Read More »

There is a plan by Barrick Gold Corporation to mine the area underneath a glacier in Chile. In order to mine the gold, they have to transport five acres of ice to another glacier -- to preserve it, of course. William Jefferson's Office Raided by FBI

This weekend, FBI agents raided the office of embattled Senator William Jefferson (D-LA). They were looking for (more) evidence of corruption.

And Congress members, especially Republicans, called it an example of the executive branch overstepping their powers.

I'm sorry, what makes an Congress member's office sacrosanct? Are they suddenly granted diplomatic immunity, are they allowed to do whatever illegal activities they want in their offices?  Read More »

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •

The Colbert after-dinner performance at the White House Correspondent's Dinner that was practically blacked out in the MSM has proved its staying power.
