i, like many of you, joined progressive U for the scholarship 'blogging for progress' and so if you joined here for the scholarship you are probably on the same scholarship search that i am.

im some what of a nerd when it comes to my scholarship organization. i have a binder and an excel chart of all the deadlines and when the scholarship opens, etc. i have over 22 scholarships to apply to i have applied currently to 5, the rest are not open or im waiting on letters of reccomendations, transcripts, fafsas, etc.

why does it seem like sad music is better than all other music put together? well actually i know that answer, its because its easier to relate to, it has more emotion in it, more reality, more everything. its personal, its seeing into another soul what you see in your own. think of your all time favorite song, not favorite song at the moment, but its usually a sad song or a song that brings a certain memory...there is somehow a personal connection to your song.

theres this huge issue of obesity in america...and people sit there and they blame the fast food companies, and the blame the soda companies, the schools, blahity blah blah.

its bullshit. what kids eat for lunch does not make them 405lbs. (obviously im exzaggerating) but honestly, if you have a burger and a soda everyday at lunch, sure it might add on a few pounds...but its not going to make you "obese"(sp)

we were talking about this in my humanities class the other day; its usually said that being "colorblind" as in not seeing the color of race. and being gender neutral not realizing man from woman...is a good thing, but is it?

i think its important to acknowledge, if your a white person in a room of black people and you keep talking about "well our ancestors..." thats not gonna mean crap to them and they might even be affended that your assoicating yourself with them.

i just read this article about a teenager "lovesick" girl ran her car into another in hope of suicide.

i'm not one to bash suicide, own of my aunt's died by taking her own life, but why would you run your car into anothers? why not a tree? honestly...i mean why another car? because she just killed someone, she committed murder, and i dont care how bad your life is, suicide is never the way, but if you decide that it is, whatever, dont kill yourself in anyway that involves another person, i mean sure i wouldnt want to use a gun and its probably hard to get pills...car accident seems like a great idea...until the fact that you dont die, you know whats funny? i bet you she had her seatbelt on.

so i read this small caption about how brad pitt and angelina jolie wont get married until all people can get married...tht obviously is not a direct quote lol =]

 but i found it interesting to my hear my father say "like thats going to do something." he must have thought of it like they were taking a stand...they were trying to change the world...or help change it

but when i heard it, i thought more, he didnt want to because its not fair that because hes straight he can go and get married twice...and here are these people dying to be married and they have been with each other for over 20 years and they cant get married.

okay, so i'm straight, but i have no problem with homosexuals, why would i? thats their life and it has nothing to do with mine, so why do so many politcians and people in gerenal make it their issue? George Bush wants to make an amendment saying that no man and man or woman and woman can get married...his reasoning; 'it will ruin the family' i understand what hes saying, hes saying that the ideal american family is a husband, wife, and 2 children. exactly what bush has...'and well if we let gays get married they will start having families and that will ruin out american picture!'
thats bullshit. yano why? you dont need to be married to start a family...and just because you have a mother and father doesnt make them good parents, which then doesnt make it a good family, im sure bush is actually a shitty father because of how often he works, he brought his family into the public eye and anytime his daughters do anything wrong...they get caught. im not suprised on how often his kids drink, now im not trying to bash bush or his family but that is a stupid reason to not let homosexuals get married. its all bullshit. anyone who opposes homosexual marriage is a freakin homophobic. and theres no reason for it, who the hell cares about someone you dont even know? i sure dont. two guys get married? omg the world is coming to an end. they should have rights just as anyone else. i read this piece in my humanities class "masulinty as homophobia" by Michael Kimmel....

fashion is know from other cultures and countries to be our weakness, i read a piece written by a muslim woman who came to america and compared our fashion criticism to the veil they are forced to wear (thats not the direct quote.) she told about a story when she went to a store in New York and she was about a size 8 or 9 and the store ,didnt carry anything above 6, 6 was what the average woman in america wore, and if she needed a bigger size she could go to a special store. obviously she was in a snooty store, but either way.
