"Growing up"--Suffering? Not laughing? Taking your clothes off?

Okay, so everybody goes through it, right? They don't make all those coming-of-age movies and books because no one relates to them, do they? But what exactly does growing up mean?

I ask because I fee like I've gotten so many different definitions of it over my life.  Read More »

Hey! I Get It! --Something that is so good actually makes sense...

Tagged:

Over the last few days, I've attended an event at a church that has made me look over my life and realize some of how God has been working in my life and how He still is. I want to say that I get it now, and it's a great feeling.  Read More »

Yes, God is real and alive and no, I'm not sorry about it.

Okay. I'm a Christian. Jesus Christ is my lord and savior. My relationship with NHim has gotten me through some very tough times.

What irks me about other people saying that sometimes is that they feel the need to say the inevitable "But I don't force it on other people" or something like that. Well, I don't go around preaching myself, but I don't believe it's my responsibility to deny the stereotype that people have of us. They're the ones who shouldn't have the stereotype in the first place.  Read More »

Let's regress, back to our humanity

I haven't blogged anything for a very long time, but this is something that has been on my mind a lot recently. Some problems our threats to society, but I belive we, as the human race, face a threat to our humanity to which a many of us are oblivious.

This may be re-hashing old news, but the creeping acceptance of euthansia and abortion in the name of quality of life is very slowly turning the entire world into a slightly more well-meaning Nazi Germany. I won't go into detail, because if you don't know the specifics of topics like this, they aren't hard to find. I will say, though, that it is incredibly arrogant for human beings to decide who would be better off dead or never born. We are flawed creatures, and it is far too possible for the more heavily flawed among us to slowly move these practices from mercy to eugenics without notice under the guise of "progress." More than that, we are not animals. We do not need to let our predators killl of the weakest in our "herd" for the betterment of the rest and did we not develop medicine for the purpose of sparing lives?  Lives cannot be improved when they are ended. Political correctness, for too many of us, has overshadowed our fundametally human nature. We kid ourselves when we think otherwise and, in doing so, prove my point. In fact, we're worse than animals as we're slowly becoming robots. Even as I type this I hear the inevitable "progress" monster arguing with my logic in my head. It's not about logic though or morals or legislation. We simply need to stop thinking it's okay for us to decide on death and the bigger picture: what constitutes quality of life, a purposeful life or a life worth living.  Read More »

Sex Sells

Yeah, it does. That's old news. Why else would you market bottled water using a naked woman laying in a cloud or advertising clothes with people wearing hardly any clothes at all? Abercrombie anyone? And what did all the bubble-gum pop stars do when they "grew up"? They took off their clothes and added even more suggestive moves to their coregraphy. Then there's all the sexuality in movies, that really isn't always nessecary, and magazines, which goes without saying of course.  Read More »

Protesting-Is it all from the heart?

Tagged:  •

This idea mainly came from all the recent immigration protests. Most, if not all, of those are sincere, but don't you think there are some protesters out there who do it just ...well...for the heck of it?

I mean, you have to wonder if people who act passionatley opinionated on some subjects are just doing it for the rebellion and shock value of it. Then sometimes it just seems like people just hop on the bandwagon of an issue because it's being focused on, or, especially young people, because their friends are doing it. It reminds me of "the issue-attention cycle" from government, but right now, "fad" is the word that comes to mind.  Read More »

Old-Fashioned Writing--Not this Typing Junk

Blogs and websites and online journals are so popular these days, and they're awesome ways to just put your opinions out there for people to see, especially with stronger opinons than me and even if only a few people read them. But there's just something about physical writing something down with a pen and piece of paper that makes it so much better. Maybe it's because is so much more tangible, I don't know, but it makes me feel a lot better than posting something on the Internet--but that great too!  Read More »

Blue Collar Comedy Tour --Jeff, Bill run away!

Tagged:

The only two of the four guys on Blue Collar Comedy Tour , and other things, are Jeff Foxworthy and Bill Engvall. Larry the Cable Guy is just too vulgar and disgusting with his comedy. He's probably not like that in real life, but still, he's hard to watch. And Ron White is just boring.

I think Jeff and Bill do much better alone. They should just stay behind themselves.

Of course, this is all just my opinion.
