Being Fat...if it is such a problem make a change!

Alright it has been quite a while since i have posted on here, but i am back at least for now. I see that progressiveu has changed…it seems to have veered away from the strict entries of being progressive. I can share my views on that, but not now.

My current annoyance is with society (nothing new there) I use to live in a remote town in
Alaska. It was a bizarre experience and i have finally come back to visit. I never actually thought i would come back, but here i am. I have always known that obesity was a huge issue with that natives here, but now i wonder why they are not doing anything to prevent it.

Amish Boy Robbed

Tagged:  •

Man, can you tell I like to write these WHAT IS SOCIETY COMING TO blogs? Well i have another one for you!
A local Amish boy was running his family bakery when two older men burst into the store. The two men tied the boy up like he was some sort of animal and promptly raided the cash box. They took $50 from the boy and left. Because this is such a small community they don't have a lot of evidence to go off of. The only real evidence is that it was two men in their 40's driving a tan truck.  Read More »

Victims of Abortion Memorial

I have tried to avoid the topic of ABORTION, but i don't think i can any longer. Please forgive me for bringing it up again, i realize we all get tired of this topic.
I recently returned to my hometown for a few days. It's a small town in northern Minnesota, the kind of town where all the city dwellers travel to on their snazzy little vacations.
It had been a few years since i had last visited my hometown so i decided to take a tour. Walking around the whole town would take about 15 minutes, no daunting task there. I walked past the gas stations, a new candy store, the movie store that was closing, a vacant main street, and then i passed church street. To my surprise the Catholic church had been painted a new crisp white and had a new statue in front of the door. I walked closer to examine the statue and was very stunned by what it said.  Read More »

Homeland Security List

Tagged:  •

According to a new report, Homeland Security did not accurately access the risk of certain places in America. I figured that things like the Statue of Liberty were not rated high enough, much to my surprise they were over rated. This coming from our country who has a color coded system on how much we should worry for the day.

The department deemed an insect zoo, a bourbon festival, a bean fest, and a kangaroo conservation center vulnerable to terrorist attacks. The list failed to mention the Statue of Liberty, Time Square,  or The Empire State Building. Indiana had over 8,000 items on the list, and New York had 5,000...am i the only one who thinks this is a little strange?  Read More »

I have returned from my grand adventure as a counselor at Camp Hand in Hand. It was an amazing journey and i have been anxiously waiting to share my experience. Please bear with me, chronological order seems the best way to tell my story (length may become an issue.) I arrived at Camp Knutson, the camp that was hosting Camp Hand in Hand, late Thursday night.  Read More »

Made in America

Tagged:  •
So what really makes an American? Is it the cloths we wear? How about the foods we eat? The cars we drive? How much PROUD TO BE AMERICAN crap we own? Does that stuff really truly make you American?
A lady at my work dug through the light bulbs for about an hour. I asked her many times if i could assist her, she simply shook her head and moved more boxes around. She was searching for something, i just couldn't decide what that was. Finally she brought a box of light bulbs to the counter, "I can't find where these are made. All the others seem to be made in China." I scanned the box and quickly found that these too were made in China. She slammed her hand angrily down on the counter, "I just want them to be MADE IN AMERICA."   Read More »

Franny and Zooey by J.D. Salinger The Catcher in the Rye

Tagged:  •
I am currently in the middle of Franny and Zooey by J.D. Salinger. This is basically two short stories combined in a book. They were originally published separately in the New Yorker magazine. You may be familiar with The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger which is a very famous and very banned book.
I don't know what Salinger's appeal to me is, but i really love his work. You can tell so much about him through his books, and he just seems so real. Both books are extremely similar with the exception of some different characters and religion is thrown into Franny and Zooey.  Read More »
