A Hate crime is committed when the perpetrator goes after a person or group because of their own membership in a certain group. Usually that of race, religion, and sexual orientation. The first major difference is that everyone who fights in Iraq has the right to choose whether they want to serve or not. Noone is making them be there. When someone signs up to be in the Army, Navy, Airforce, or National Guard, they know what they are signing up for.
