Do We Practice our Rights? Or Do We Allow Others to Choose for Us?

Tagged:  •

As adolescents we want to have fun, follow the crowd, act cool, etc. We are supposed to be rebellious and wild, but why? Are we practicing our freedoms as adults, or are we just following what others tell us to do? Well, I figure that we are mimicking what others are doing and that we are actually not interested in our freedoms at all. As adolescents, we are afraid about what the world might think of us, that is why so many people come to school and dress similar, or totally uniformed, to school. We are all afraid about what the world might think of us. We are all afraid about what our friends and our peers will think of us. We are all afraid that we will all be losers in this life we live. It is our natural instinct to be social and to conform to this world. But do we really have to be like everyone else? Can we be unique and different in this world that we live in today? No. We can't, because society doesn't accept that. Society doesnt accept me being smart, so as a result, they try to pull me down academically. They make fun of my knowledge and discourage me to become something more. That is why we need to change. We can no longer look at others and be influenced by the way they think. We need to be bold and stand up to this world. This is the only way we can achieve that freedom that we have been given since we were born. The same freedom that our founding fathers meant when they talked about our "unalienable rights." So when someone tells you that what you're doing is wrong and should be changed to be less controversial or to be more universal, tell them that you are practicing your freedoms and that you will no longer conform.  Read More »

Diet Coke and Mentos

Did you know that when you put diet coke and mentos together a massive explosion takes place? Yes it's true. Mentos and Diet Coke explodes. We did this project in Chemistry class and it was really fun! We put 5 or 7 pieces of mentos into a 2-liter bottle of Diet Coke. Make sure you use a new bottle of diet coke and that the bottle still has carbon dioxide in it. Do you want to know why mentos and diet coke combined creates the atomic bomb? Well, when you drop the Mentos into the soda, the gelatin and gum arabic from the dissolving candy break the surface tension.  Read More »

Life as we know it

Life is going to end and have you done everything that you could do in life. We live in a country with so many opportunities that sometimes we forget to take advantage of them. We are so comfortable in our lifestyle that we remain in our comfort zones and we have to be forced to get out. As we move on into adulthood, this is the time for us to really maximize our potential in life. We need to make the most out of everything, whether it be the smallest thing like homework or helping out someone in need. This might be a very common and overused topic to talk about, but it is really true. We never know when we are going to die, and wouldn't you like to know that you have done everything that you could possibly do in your lifetime? And wouldn't you also like to know that you have left a legacy for others to follow by making a difference in someone else's life? As a result, we have to change now and do everything that we can do in order to maximize our potentials.  Read More »

The Christian Hypocrisy

Tagged:

Christians everywhere are becoming more and more hypocritical as time goes on. We tell others to do one thing, and then we do something that we tell others not to do. This has been an issue that has really been bugging me. For example, we know that we are not supposed to cheat and we refuse to give others our assignments or homework to others that didn't do it. But two minutes later we find out that we forgot to do a major grade project and go around the whole classroom begging others to copy their projects. This Christian hypocrisy has to end now. We have to learn about self control and stay strong in our faith. Jesus even warns us about the hypocrisy in our lives. We need to live the way we talk, not just talk.  Read More »

The End of Saddam Hussein

Saddam Hussein was sentenced to hang today after killing tens of thousands of Shiite Muslims. An Iraqi court sentenced him for crimes against humanity, closing a quarter-century-old chapter of violent suppression in this land of long memories, deep grudges and sectarian slaughter. Saddam Hussein's death penalty followed a celebration from the Shiites and Kurds, who had been tormented by Saddam Hussein. The trial was televised and Iraqis everywhere watched the televised trial. When Saddam was sentenced his death penalty, he shouted "God is great!" Saddam's six subordinates will also be hanged for the 1982 killings of 148 Shiites in a Shiite town.  Read More »

Eat...Smartly

Tagged:  •

Most Americans now live on-the-go. We don't have the time to do anything anymore, so we simply rush through the day. This lifestyle affects the way we eat, and to most people, it affects them in a negative way. Americans go to the drive-thru at convenient fast food restaurants and eat while they are behind the wheel. Chomping down on all of that fat, sodium, and sugar, they manage to finish their lunch just before their lunch break ends. These people take in so much calories, and they dont excercise enough to burn the calories. As a result, obesity, diabetes, atherosclerosis, and other health problems plague their health. Americans dont consume the right amount of vitamins and minerals because all they are eating is deep fried junk. We don't take the time to eat an apple or vegetable sticks to balance out our diet, but instead we fill up our bodies with fat and more fat, and soon our bodies will be fat. That is why we must change our lifestyle before it's too late. It is our duty to eat a balanced and well nourished diet in order to satisfy our bodies. We must also follow the new food pyramid and follow it diligently. Eating a well balanced diet will give us more energy and satisfaction throughout the day. This new diet will also make us look younger and healthier. Who wouldn't want to look younger? So, we as Americans must treat our bodies with respect, which means eating a well balanced diet with vitamins, minerals, proteins, and carbohydrates, instead of fats, simple-sugars, and sodium.  Read More »
