Recently, I have been having a lot of problems with my ears and sinuses. After a few months, my mother decided I needed to go to the Doctor, so I went and they didn't think there was anything wrong. I returned a few weeks later, and they decided to give me medicine for a Sinus Infection. This did little to help, so I returned again a month later. They gave me a sample of allergy medicine and told me to start taking some kind of allergy stuff. I did this for a while, and it still did not seem to be helping. The last thing they did was give me some stuff to spray up my nose, which has been helping more, and yet still doesn't seem to solve the problem. So, here is the point. Read More »

Demanding Help

locoweed, spliffer, doob, Mary Jane, toke, weed, roach, grass, dope
As an "innocent little Christian" girl, I have never heard most of these terms. Yet, to anyone who has smoked marijuana or spends time with people who do, they may recognize these. Today in my AP Language and Composition class, we were disgussing a passage from the book "Freakonomics" and somehow got on a tangent about making marijuana legal. While those who are fond of the drug brought up some good points for making it legal, it is my opinion that we are better off without this drug. Read More »

Gambling with life
On the news today, I saw something about a man who is going to stay in a large bowl of water for 7 days. He will have food, oxygen and a catheter, but will not come out of the bowl at all during those days. Also, at some point he will (or has) gone into the water to stay for 9 minutes without oxygen and escape from chains. While the first could be useful for doctors in seeing how the mans body reacts to this treatment, the second serves absolutely no purpose except a challenge for the man. Read More »

How do you sympathize?
First of all, let me start off by explaining what has brought this idea to my mind. Recently, a boy at my school died of an overdose. This has never really happened (I go to a good school where no one ever dies during the year, although they do do drugs and everything), so it was a big deal to a lot of people. However, for me, it was very difficult to feel sorry for the boy, his friends, or his family. Read More »

Praise & Worship
As a Christian Musician, I am very interested in the "praise" aspect of a sunday morning service. At my church, I am on the adult worship team that plays sunday mornings and the youth worship team that does youth events. We have lots of fun, and more importantly, we enjoy singing to our savior. I am actually planning on doing my Senior Project for high school on Christian praise time. However, I think that I am going to focus more on worship here. Read More »

Selfless Depression?
First of all, let me start off this blog saying that I have at times struggled with some form of depression. I think that most people do. This blog may be offensive to anyone who is officially diagnosed, so I would like to warn you before you read it. Also, I do not necessarily believe in this idea, it was just a question posed to me by a youth leader at my church (who also is not sure that he agrees with it). Read More »

Please Help Darfur!
Until last wednesday, I don't think I had ever heard of Darfur. Darfur is the western region of Sudan, but more importantly, it is in need of help.
Since 2003, there has been a conflict between the non-Arab people of Darfur and the Janjaweed. The Janjaweed are militias that are allied with the government of the Sudan, whose weapons are provided by the government, as well. From what Americans can tell, they are trying to cleanse Sudan from all non-Arabs. Women can not leave their homes without being in danger of rape, and putting their children in danger, as well. Men are constantly being killed, and entire towns are being demolished. Diseases and starvation are widespread, and there is an estimate of 10,000 who die every month. Read More »

Every Little Thing
There is a Christian band called Hawk Nelson that is considered Christian pop punk and rock. In one of their songs, titled "Every Little Thing," they talk about a girl who is a very good role model as a Christian and, although they once dismissed her because of that, they now want her for that reason. I have always liked this song because I want somebody to think that about me. However, as I was listening to it the other day, I realized something. Read More »
