Dating in my eyes...

Tagged:  •

Well, we are starting a series on dating at youth group, and while I have heard the Christian dating spiel, I am kind of looking forward to this.  I have talked to Patrick about dating a limited amount, and am looking forward to hearing more about his views.  Right now, I have a very mixed view of what is acceptable, and have really been struggling to figure out what is really acceptable in God's eyes.  So, here are my current views, and I know that most of you will not agree (either will be more conservative or think I am far too sheltered).  Read More »

Parents

Something that I have really struggled with lately is my relationship with my parents.  It has not been any worse than usual, in fact, if anything it has been better.  I have been trying harder to get along with them and to respect them, and yet we still struggle to get along.  While I do not claim to have the answer to getting along with parents, there are a few things I have realized of late that I thought may be helpful to you, and a good reminder to me.  Please leave your comments and let me know what your opinions are, and know that I am not trying to offend anyone.  Read More »

John 1:29b Study (finally!)

Tagged:  •

“Behold! the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.”

First of all, it is important to know the context.  This is John the Baptist speaking when he first sees Jesus.  He knew it was the Messiah because God told him that he would see a spirit descend on the man who would save the world.  John knew that he was not worthy enough to touch Jesus’ sandals, but he baptized Jesus when Jesus came to him to be baptized.  So, that is some information about the speaker and stuff.  Read More »

Lack of Love

This is a conversation I had with a few people (actually, 3, I left one out because of language issues) I kinda know and one of my best friends at school today. I will try to quote it, but it's basically going to be the general idea. Please, do not think I dislike the people involved or am upset with them, specifically. If anything, I am upset with all of America's ignorance, and lack of understanding/compassion for those less fortunate than they are.  Read More »

John 1:29b

"Behold, the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world."  John 1:29b

This will be my second verse of the week.. Hopefully, I will actually have my study done on saturday and post it.  It seems like a great continuation on Romans 3:23.  Romans 3:23 talked about the sin of the world, and this verse is mentioning how we can be saved.  Does anyone know all the names Jesus was given in the bible?  I think I've seen a poster, but a list would be nice.  Read More »

Romans 3:23

Romans 3:23 - "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

Well, I am starting roughly 6 months of memorizing verses this week.  My mom found a card somewhere with 26 verses, one for each letter of the alphabet.  I am planning on asking my sunday school class next year or sometime in the future to memorize those verses, but I realized that I should be sure I know all of them before I ask 10 year olds to memorize all of them.  I could go through it as I do it with them, memorizing the verse a week ahead, but I think I want to memorize them anyway.  So, this is the first verse which I will memorize.  Since I already know the verse, I want to do more than just memorize it.  I will be studying it and looking up cross references, and trying to get a better understanding of the verse in general.  Read More »

Purpose

In everything human beings do, there is some sort of purpose.  As babies, we cry to get attention or food.  As children and teenagers, we go to school to learn or because our parents make us.  Even as adults we go to work to provide for ourselves, our families, or just to improve our lives with things that we desire.  Naturally, there must be a reason to post blogs on a website.  Some people may post blogs to present their views, to get attention, or to meet new people.  Others may post blogs simply because they want to win the scholarship (don’t tell me you don’t want it, I know we all do).  While some of these do apply to me, the main reason I post blogs is to share my beliefs and the gospel with others.  Read More »

Vocabulary

Tagged:  •

This is kind of a lame blog topic, but I'm bored and trying to procrastinate for a while.  I was thinking about learning vocab words and why we do it.

Vocab is important because it helps you improve your writing and reading skills, and can definitely help you out on tests (like the SAT).  However, for me, I think it is kind of pointless for things other than testing.  Whenever I hear or use a vocab word, I feel like a loser because it is a vocab word to me, and not a real word.  I mean, I know that they are real words and they are important, but the fact that the first time I heard it was in a vocab book makes it very difficult for me to use it.  Read More »
