World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.----A MESSAGE FROM AN APPALLED OBSERVER:

A short and said story that was given to me,

Today I went to visit the new World War II Memorial in Washington, DC.

I   got an unexpected history lesson.  Because I'm a baby boomer, I was one
of  the youngest in the crowd.  Most were the age of my parents, veterans of
"the greatest war," with their families.  It was a beautiful
day, and  people were smiling and happy to be there.  Hundreds of us milled around
the memorial, reading the inspiring words of Eisenhower and Truman that
are engraved there.  Read More »

What would you do?
You make the choice; Don't look for a punch line. There isn't one. Read it anyway.

My question to all of you is: Would you have made the same choice
At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves learning
disabled children, the father of one of the students delivered a speech

that would never be forgotten by all who attended.
After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a
question.

"When not interfered with by outside influences, everything
nature does is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn
things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other
children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?"  Read More »

CHEAPER to Retire at the HOLIDAY INN?!

"No nursing home for me! I'm checking into the Holiday Inn.

With the average cost for a nursing home per day reaching $188.00, there is a better way when we get old and feeble. I have already checked on reservations at the Holiday Inn. For a combined long-term stay discount and senior discount, it's $49.23 per night.  Read More »

Social Security

Tagged:  •    •

Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions during election years.

Our Senators and Congresswomen do not pay into Social Security and, of
course, they do not collect from it

You see, Social Security benefits were not suitable for persons of
their rare elevation in society . They felt they should have a special
plan for themselves. So, many years ago they voted in their own
benefit plan.

In more recent years, no congressperson has felt the need to change
it. After all, it is a great plan.

For all practical purposes their plan works like this:

When they retire, they continue to draw the same pay until they die.

Except it may increase from time to time for cost of living
adjustments..

For example, Senator Byrd and Congressman White and their wives may
expect to draw $7,800, 000.00 (that's Seven Million, Eight-Hundred
Thousand Dollars), with their wives drawing $275,000.00 during the
 last years of their lives.
This is calculated on an average life span for each of those two
