Furthering Education

Tagged:  •

There are many people in this country who don't have an education after high school. Often times those people are denied jobs and the ability to further their career. The government says they are working to provide everyone with an education, if you can afford it. Sure the government gives us the opportunity to get an education, at least through high school. After that you are on your own. The price of getting a postsecondary education is ridiculous, no wonder so many people don't go to college.  The prices just to attend a year or semester for that matter are  outrageous. Many times kids in college are working  numerous hours a week just to be able to pay for their education. Therefore, it makes it much harder for them to do well in school. Not everyone can have the luxury of having their parents pay for their school. Most kids have to work to the brink of exhaustion just to pay for all of it. I don't understand why the prices are so incredibly high, but I know that they shouldn't be. If you have people who are willing and desire to continue their education, they shouldn't be denied because they can't pay the sky high fees. Someone in our government needs to step in and demand changes. They have the college education that I am hoping I will be able to get. If our government wants people to be educated so badly, then they should help us students out  with lowering prices. I know they have scholarships and government aid, but that isn't always enough. You aren't guaranteed that you will get that scholarship you applied for or that grant you so desperately need. If the price of a college education was more reasonable, there would be many more people in our country with a postsecondary education.
