Average or Exceptional? A question of education.

Hey guys,

More thoughts on education.  With the itroduction of the "No Child left behind" act, and the thinking that goes along with it, our schools have become areas of stagnantation instead of learning enviroments.  Kids that are smarter or more dedicated to learning are held back because of the kids in class who could care less about getting an education.  Teachers are forced to teach at the level of the worst students in a class.  This requirement not only holds the better students back, it also causes them to lose interest and motivation. When the best and brightest young students in our nation are being held back by the worst students, we are just limiting our potential as a nation.  We are educating a generation to be average, instead of exceptional.  If this trend continues, our nation could be headed for some hard times.

Higher or lower standard of education

Hey, hows it going.

I have been in high school for almost four years now, and I sometimes wonder how I am about to graduate.  I am graduating fourth in my class, and yet I don't feel like I have learned anything.  The educational system that we currently have in place emphasizes getting the grades rather than learning the material.  This format for education has made it possible for me to succeed by memorizing information for a day or two, and learning good test taking skills and strategies.  More empasis needs to be placed on learning material, instead of making grades.
