Homework is important. It provides the practice outside of the classroom needed to fully develop learning and understanding of concepts and skills in a way that sitting in a lecture taking notes cannot. That is not my question, I am not questioning the importance of homework, but instead the amounts in which it it being doled out.
The technology available these days is astounding. Cell phones are getting smaller, computers are getting faster, and can all of a sudden do more than anyone could have dreamed of twenty, even ten years ago. I'm not saying that technology isn't a great thing, because it is. It's a fantastic tool we can all use to better our lives, make things easier, faster, and more interesting.
